Bragging about WinPatrol

We recently received an email from a customer informing us that WinPatrol alerted him to two pieces of malware before either of his antivirus programs had a chance to react. Because of WinPatrol, he was able to block both before his computer became infected.

The first piece of malware was later identified as Trojan.QQpass and the second as Exploit:Java/Obfuscator.R. His antivirus did not detect anything until he ran a full scan.

I've recently read comments from some who think Scotty is past his prime. Nothing could be further from the truth. With the ever increasing amount of malware being released into the world, everyone needs a layered security solution. WinPatrol's innovative manner of detecting intruders is needed now more than ever.

The experience of the customer above is proof. Scotty is on Patrol!

Windows 10 Compatibility?

Both WinPatrol and WinPrivacy are 100% compatible with Windows 10. We have had thousands and thousands of users running these products on Windows 10 from some time now.
In fact, we installed WinPatrol PLUS on beta-1 of Windows 10.

We will be adding support for Edge cookies in the next update. This is tentatively scheduled for mid-July.

WinPatrol Tip of the Month keys_clock.jpg

Let s discuss one of the new features in this release of WinPatrol.

If you look at the Active Tasks page, you'll see a new button titled "Kill By Name" that is only available to PLUS customers. What this button does is allow you to select on entry for a program that has multiple running copies and click, "Kill By Name". WinPatrol will immediately terminate all running copies of the program.

PLUS customers using a 64 bit operating system also enjoy a full listing of all 64 bit programs running on their computer starting with this release.
WinPrivacy Tip of the Month keys_clock.jpg

Last month we released a major upgrade for WinPrivacy. Here's how to best take advantage of the new features.

As soon as you register WinPrivacy, please activate both " Program Recognition" features.
  • What "Automatically block..." does is direct WinPrivacy to block any new program from accessing the Internet.
  • Alone, that feature can be annoying.
  • However, by also activating "Smart Recognition", WinPrivacy will use our "known programs" definitions and automatically allow "known good programs".
  • Best of all, WinPrivacy still raises an alert notifying you of each new program detected so that you can veto any automatic decision. After all, it is your computer so you get the final say.
New member on the team

I want to introduce a new member of our team to everyone. Gauvin (Govz) recently joined us from the same anti-malware company for which I used to work. Govz and I go way back and I can't express how happy I am to have him on the team!

He brings an extensive background in development to the team and anchored the effort for the release of WinPatrol announced in this newsletter. This is truly a solid release thanks to his skills.

He also created our product boxes and helps out with our back-office systems.

Some of you have already seen him posting on our Fans of WinPatrol
Facebook page.

Please welcome him aboard. He has some great ideas he's bringing to the table for new features for WinPatrol.
