In 1980, as a young photographer with the San Francisco Chronicle driving through the vineyards on my way to another winery shoot, I began meeting growers and vintners that shed another view of their lives. From those conversations I developed understanding of the special qualities of specific vineyards and their geographic location. My roots with photo-journalism insisted a respect for the people that allowed me into their lives in a profound and intimate way, celebrating victory and sharing tragedy. I found myself applying the same principles to these unique vineyards - Respecting the growers, their fruit and making the wine based on the uniqueness. Join us on Thursday and I'll tell you more!
