Our story begins with our Grandfather, Bill Ketterlin, who was a builder in Tipton Missouri. He was a traditional, sturdy build, do it right and get it done on time type of guy.
He found innovative ways to make things work. However, he became frustrated with the challenges of on-site, stick built construction.
The weather would often cause months of delay. The subcontractors were unreliable and new groups needed to continuously be trained on how to work as a team and build with quality.
Materials were subject to the elements, readily available for thieves and when the job was completed often were left behind and considered useless. He knew there had to be a better way.
He examined how mobile homes were made, inside a facility, under the protection of a roof. But he didn't like the cheap construction. So he adapted the "under one roof" idea and added his attention to quality and began constructing full size homes at a large plant.
The same team could apply their craft to several homes at a time, easily switching from one to another. Materials left over from one job were readily available for the next job. Upon completion, the home was easily transported to its final site, set and ready.
From dirt to done in less than three months time. Our Grandfather was indeed a thought leader in the industry. This manufacturing of a home under one roof is the same method Donald Trump uses today to build his high rises.
When his company was ready to expand, he met the strong leadership and community of Chanute Kansas who shared the same commitment to innovative, quality construction.
With the help of an outside investor, he moved his business to the City of Chanute, Kansas to the location of our current plant at 4711 S. Santa Fe.
Bill passed his legacy onto our father, who past it down to us, his sons Scott and Darin Luebbering.
We operate Advanced Systems Homes today. Our father, Stan, still acts as advisor and mentor.
Combined, our family has over 100 of years of experience in the home building industry and we continue to honor the legacy of our Grandfather by producing beautiful dream homes using the latest manufacturing techniques.
