Dear ,

Well the big day is finally here! Get the turkey in the oven and football on the TV because I'm starving!

We had the opportunity to once again visit Governor Mark Dayton yesterday. We brought a big check and a big ole' turkey along with us for the ride. There is full coverage of the event below so be sure to check it out!

From all of us at the MTGA/CEAM offices - have a happy Thanksgiving!

Minnesota Turkey at the Capitol

Yesterday, Governor Mark Dayton and MTGA President Duane Jaenicke continued a Thanksgiving tradition. Duane presented a full grown tom to Governor Dayton at the capitol along with a great spread of turkey products from Minnesota.

The governor hosted a press conference and spoke to the importance of Minnesota's Turkey industry. MTGA Executive Director Steve Olson and President Duane Jaenicke also spoke on the importance of Thanksgiving and the turkey industry. Duane gave a great speech and handled the press like a pro!

Duane presented a check to Hunger Solutions Minnesota for the purchase of over 11,000 pounds of turkey. Part of the donation from MTGA is taken from proceeds earned at the Turkey to Go stand at the State Fair.

As usual the event garnered quite a bit of media attention. We've compiled a few links to some great stories about the event and Minnesota Turkey below. The WCCO story has the audio from the entire press conference.

You can also check out the press release on the Minnesota Turkey website - here is a link to it.

On top of all of this great coverage the Governor's own blog is highlighting the turkey industry for four straight days during the Thanksgiving season! The blog will focus on turkey through Friday. Above is a cool infographic that was posted today on the blog. You can keep tabs on the blog here.
Official Proclamation: Today is MTGA day!

After our visit to the capitol yesterday we learned the Governor Dayton officially proclaimed today, November 21, 2012 as " Hunger Solutions Minnesota and Minnesota Turkey Growers Association Day in the state of Minnesota." It is some well-deserved recognition for those who strive everyday to feed the hungry and the entire world!
