CHEERS TO 35 YEARS

We are proud to celebrate 35 years of continuing our mission to enhance the quality of life for individuals and their loved ones touched by a terminal illness. Hospice of Southern Illinois honors and remembers over 34,000 patients and families served in our 27 counties, serving southern Illinois since 1981. We started as a grass-roots volunteer movement to help individuals and their loved ones with a terminal illness live their end-of-life journey with peace and dignity. Thank you for your support and trusting your care to Hospice of Southern Illinois. There comes a time... to ask how hospice can help. Click Here To Read More.

    WELLNESS TIP
Self Care:   Move it or lose it.  Moving our bodies every day decreases the risk of heart disease and other chronic illnesses.  It helps to reduce stress and maintains healthy bones and joints. Take a 10-minute walk three times a day five days a week.  You will look and feel better.  Source: www.hap.org - HAP Wellness Tips

CAREGIVING TIP
Stress ManagementAvoid negative environments. Although not always possible, work to avoid negative environments. Negativity is contagious!  Draw yourself nearer to people who are supportive and positive.  You can eliminate drama by not engaging in judgmental conversations. Do not speak negatively about anyone.  (This alone is extremely powerful.) Blaming others inwardly or outwardly only de-energizes us. Notice your thought patterns today.  Are they of acceptance or of judgment?

PTSD & TREATMENT

PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) is the most prevalent mental health challenge faced by our Nation's Veterans. We want to encourage people to seek effective PTSD treatment and to know they are not alone. To do this we created  AboutFace : an online video gallery of Veterans talking about living with PTSD and how treatment turned their lives around. Help spread the word. Click here to learn more.
