WINTER AUTOCROSS RETURNS TO ROAD AMERICA

  winter autocross

ELKHART LAKE, Wis., January 7, 2014 - Wisconsin is having one of the coldest winters on record and with all this snow on the ground, plus more on the way, the time is right to shake off that cabin fever and start looking for a big, empty, snow-filled area to do donuts, handbrake slides and other thrilling sideways maneuvers.

But instead of doing it in a parking lot -- where you not only have to ignore the nasty glares of onlookers and possibly risk a chat with our friends in local law enforcement, Road America encourages drivers to try its Winter Autocross.

New for 2014, Road America is offering a three-part series on February 1, March 1, and April 5 complete with a new point system so competitors can challenge each other for awards and bragging rights.

"It's huge fun, of course, but what's most important is drivers will also learn how to control their vehicle in low-traction conditions so they can be prepared when less than desirable winter road conditions make driving unpredictable," said Mike Kertscher, programs manager for Road America. The awards banquet will be a blast and we are certain that many great stories will be shared."

The price is $75 per advance participant entry for each event, which includes a driver pit pass and lunch. A $20 advance pit pass per event is also available for spectators and friends and includes lunch. The total three-race package is $200 and includes a driver pit pass plus a banquet ticket. The series awards banquet will be on April 5th  and Individual banquet tickets are $20. More information about the awards banquet will be provided at the first event.
