Basketball Outreach Scrimmage
ICGC Senior Boys Team  VS. Crossroads Church Youth Group (High School Players Only)

Sunday, December 4
4:30pm
ICGC Gym
As part of our expansion of the ICGC Basketball program, we will be having our first Athletic Outreach Scrimmage game this Sunday. Please see details below:

PURPOSE: We are all well aware of the challenges we face today.  We had a wonderful event last week with the MEET YOUR NEIGHBOR at ICGC. This is another way of reaching out to the non-Muslim community with a focus on the youth. The youth group from Crossroads Church and their members will have a chance to come to our Center for a tour and both of our youth groups will play in a friendly exhibition match. It is important to show that kids from Muslim communities are just like any other American kids.

SCHEDULE/ STRUCTURE OF EVENT: We are looking to play 2 games, possibly more depending on how much time we have.  This will be our Senior Boys only.  We will be giving a tour and offer refreshments as well.

Please do try to attend as it will be another opportunity to interact with a wonderful group of people from Crossroads Church and at the same time enjoy the basketball game.  We would like to have more of these types of events in the future as it is a great way to expand our outreach and interfaith programs.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

ARRANGED centers on the friendship between an Orthodox Jewish woman and a Muslim woman who meet as first-year teachers at a public school in Brooklyn. Over the course of the year they learn they share much in common - not least of which is that they are both going through the process of arranged marriages.

Islamic Center In The News

Every community has a narra tive.  Either that community controls the narrative or the narrative cont rols the community. Now more than ever the American Muslim community has to take control of the narrative. This can only be achieved if as a community we are building bridges and inroads with media.  Media outlets want to cover stories and do pieces that people are interested in. They want viewers, readers, comments, and discussions.  It is critical that as a community we are more visible and more vocal in the media.

We have been blessed for wide and positive coverage of the Center.  When there is positive coverage we must all give feedback and acknowledge and appreciate the work of the media. Please take a few minutes to review the media links and give positive feedback where you feel comfortable.
