WINTER NEWSLETTER 2016
Thanks for helping us rally the church for the cause of the fatherless.
A Holiday Word From JFO's Executive Director:
It's hard to believe we are closing out another year.  Our JFO team is rejoicing as we have seen several children find permanency and are spending Christmas with their forever families this year.  We are also encouraged that several new foster families have begun the journey to become home to local kids in foster care.  As you read this news letter you will get a glimpse of the work JFO has done in 2016 in our mission to rally the Church for the cause of the orphan by inspiring, educating and equipping families toward adoption, foster care, and orphan ministry.
Orphan Conference 2016
JFO's Orphan Conference 2016 was held at Faith Baptist Church in Rexford, NY, as we partnered with FBC's Chosen Ministry for foster and adoptive families. The day was filled with inspiring testimonies from local adoptive families and father-daughter team, Righ and Sydney O'Leary of Feeding The Orphans. Attendees came from as far away as Orange County to get equipped to walk out James 1:27. Pictured is 17 year old Sydney O'Leary who's heart for the orphan led to her parents adopting twice from Ghana, Africa, and to the birth of their ministry, Feeding the Orphans. Learn More

Orphan Sunday
On Orphan Sunday, JFO's Exec. Dir., Sandra Flach, shared with the congregation at  Rock Solid Church in Hudson, NY along with 3 adult adoptees. Flach is pictured  here with Ronald Vertilus who was adopted at age 17 from Haiti.  At least 6 churches in the capital region participated in Orphan Sunday this year. Learn More.
Blankets of Mercy
JFO has teamed up with Blankets of Mercy. This local group of women makes fleece blankets and donates them to area organizations.
This month JFO was able to bless a local foster family who welcomed 4 young siblings into their home. Each child received their very own blanket.

5K Fundraiser
Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, was a beautiful day for  our 5K For Orphans. Due to the saturation of 5K's  in the local area we had  a small but lively turn-out. Many thanks to all who came out to participate  and show their support  for vulnerable children  and JFO. Pictured here are 3 of the male runners after crossing the finish line.

Sweet Cases
JFO's VP, Rebecca Flach, shared at Abounding Love Christian Fellowship in
Ravena, NY. JFO partnered with ALCF to raise funds to purchase Sweet Cases from Together We Rise. Rebecca is pictured here with Bill Lubin of Northern
Rivers as we presented 80 Sweet Cases for local foster youth. Each bag contains a blanket, teddy bear, toothbrush, and coloring book with crayons.  Learn more.

Empowered To Connect
Wayne & Sandra Flach, Empowered To Connect certified parent trainers just completed teaching the Connect Course to 3 local foster/adoptive families.  The 9 week course is based on the Trust-Based Relational Intervention model developed by the late Dr. Karyn Purvis.  The training is taught from a Christian perspective and focuses on empowering, connecting and correcting principals for foster & adoptive families parenting children with trauma histories.  The Flach's are booking their 2017 training schedule, so to bring this course to your church contact them at
