Thanksgiving.....in the 4th grade I designated it my favorite holiday when my teacher, Mrs. Howell, polled the class. Coming from an already large family of 10, the day was frequently made larger by adding anothe
r related family to the mix. I did not grow up with other relatives nearby, so it was always a treat when a family of cousins traveled to see us. Those holid
ay
meals could run from the traditional turkey fare to the nontraditional, Arge
n
tine gaucho asado consisting of beef organs grilled o
ver an open fire. As siblings married, the gathering became quite large filled with in-laws and cousins with tables of food and always a traditional turkey shoot.
Times change. Family dynamics c
hange. We moved to Wayn
esville. The holiday has been just John and myself but usually along with our Hendersonville family starting the day
running Ashevil
le's Turkey Trot. This ye
ar, for the first time since 200
6, our entire, immediate family will gather
. Together we will trot, turkey shoot and fil
l our bellies
on a tradition
al feast. I
am over the
moon excited to know
that we wil
l all be together. Thanksgiving is
about
family, frien
ds, together
ness in tradi
tion.
I wish a
day of all that for you.

Twigs and Leaves Gallery will be continuing a well-received tradition of having guests make holiday greeting cards for those that may otherwise not receive cheer. The gallery provides materials and, with Margaret Pennington Roberts and friends assisting, 200 cards are created to be given to recipients of Meals on Wheels and shelter clients of Pathways and Reach.
Two opportunities allow for such a large production ~ Art After Dark, December 1, 6-9PM and Night Before Christmas, December 9, 6-9PM. No creative talent is nee
ded, just a warm heart.
Join us for this holiday celebration filled with music, elves, good food and fellowship.

Crystal Allen was not stranger to the gallery when we started representing her pottery in spring of 2014. She came to us first as a fiber artist and her felted soaps were a hit. Over a couple of years of striving for the perfect pottery for Twigs and Leaves Gallery and was an immediate success. Our biggest challenge is keeping a good representation of her work. The exceptional quality and very reasonable prices make h
er work very popular. To find out more about Crystal and her pieces, click here
