Thousand of youngsters are taking part in a walk-a-thon to raise awareness on Multi-organ Donation on the occasion of bidding farewell to this year and extending a warm welcome to New year!
Man, even after death, has the power to give life to atleast 10 others, just by the approval of his relatives. Organ Donation is the generous way to pass on one's love for humanity. It is a clear way to extend the life of our beloved, but, departed soul. Be compassionate and Respond ! !
Did you know?
In India, annually around 200,000 people require organ transplants. Shockingly, not even 0.5% is available.
According to statistics, as many as 603 deaths are registered in India every hour. If their relatives had sufficient awareness and agreed to donate at least one organ of the deceased, it would be of great help. Read more..

Without Your help, I Wouldn't Have Survived
Venkatesan and his son Tarun had been through a lot. With Tarun suffering from a genetic disorder called 'Beta Thalssaemia', and Venkatesan transforming from being a poor farmer to working in a milk booth and spending all he could to help his son get a blood stem cell transplant, Venkatesan and his wife Aruna found themselves in an unfamiliar city without the support of family or friends. Time was running out, and with no funds they were in desperate need of finding a solution to get Tarun get his 'Allogenic Peripheral blood Stem transplant(PBSCT)' surgery. In desperation, they sought help from VT Seva.
"Only God sent you wonderful people to help us," Venkatesan shared recently. "I'm not sure what good deeds I did in my pervious life to find volunteers from VT Seva who helped my 10 year old. You are the reason to believe that there is humanity on this earth. Without your help, I cannot imagine what my condition would be..." Earlier this year Tarun successfully underwent stem cell transplant surgery and his sister was the donor for stem cell. VT Seva volunteers helped raise 12 lakh rupees (~$23,000) for this surgery and stayed in constant touch with Venkatesan and Aruna assuring them to have confidence and provided guidance throughout this very difficult time.
Tarun is completely cured now and is going back to school and enjoying his childhood. Venkatesan and Aruna's joy is beyond words. Tarun says that VT Seva volunteers "were on my side assuring confidence and support, pushing me to stay strong, saying you can do this, you have this in you! Knowing that I have people rooting for me, people that support me, it helps."The compassionate volunteers of VT Seva brought hope and healing to Tarun's family. "Thank you for helping us. This service has meant a lot to me. Without you, I wouldn't have survived."
This is one of the many services that VT Seva does. We provide hope and support to thousands of poor and vulnerable people each year throughout India. Please visit our website at www.vtsworld.org to learn more about Tarun's story, and for information about our programs and services
