Dear Parents,

Our first week of school was a great success!  The students had a great time meeting their new teachers, greeting old friends and getting back into the routine. We ended the week with Mass establishing our theme for the 2017 - 18 school:  Our Family of Disciples: Pieces in Christ's Mosaic.

As we turn the page of the calendar to September,  it is time to RSVP for the September 20th Crucial Conversations 2.0 evening.   This event will feature Laura Lewis speaking on the topic of anxiety and stress in our youth today.  Laura will address trends, and offer observations and tips to manage and reduce anxiety and stress.  This workshop is for Saint Brigid of Kildare parents of children of all ages.  Following the keynote presentation parents will be invited to attend two smaller sessions of their choice.  These breakout sessions will include different aspects of technology use by our students.  Speakers will be available for questions after all the presentations conclude.  It is important for at least one parent from each family to attend this event.  I firmly believe that it is only by your support and awareness that we can make our school and parish community a strong safe place for our children to grow and learn.  Please use this link to RSVP and to learn more about this crucial evening for our community.  (Feel free to invite neighbors or other interested friends/family to the evening).

I look forward to seeing everyone at curriculum night - please check the calendar for the schedule for your children's grade levels. (Our school calendar is always available on our website here: http://www.stbrigidofkildare.com/school-calendar)

Blessings,

Kathy O'Reilly

JJ STRONG Blood Drive

On  Sunday, September 17 from  10am-3pm, Grizzell Middle School will host a Blood Drive in honor of JJ Thomas. JJ was diagnosed with Leukemia in November 2016. Over the last 10 months, JJ has received numerous blood transfusions and he will continue to need them throughout his treatment plan.

We invite everyone to donate in honor of JJ. He is an eighth grader at Grizzell Middle School and a St. Brigid of Kildare parishioner. He has been very involved in parish programs such as religious education, EPIC, SPICE fitness program volunteer and the Wolfhound football and basketball teams.

Even if you have not donated before, we hope you will consider it. If it has been awhile since your last donation, we encourage you to donate again as the American Red Cross is in constant need of blood donations. JJ is counting on donors like us to help him be #JJSTRONG!

Consider joining one of the best-kept secrets at St. Brigid of Kildare!  Family First's Mom to Mom is a vibrant, women's faith sharing group, comprised of moms who range from "rookie" to "highly experienced" in their parenting journey.  Mom to Mom meets on  Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m in Hendricks Hall .

To learn more, join us  September 19th  for fellowship, light refreshments, to meet our core team, and to find out what we have planned for this year, or check us out during Ministry weekend.  Little ones always welcome.
