Dear Parents,

Advent is a time of joyful preparation for the celebration of Jesus' birth as our Savior.  Many people like to use a special calendar to help them mark the days until Christmas.  The calendar link below includes many simple activities, prayers and acts of kindness to help give us daily reminders of the meaning of the season.

There are also several ways to mark the season of Advent with school sponsored activities.  Please mark your calendar to attend our Advent program next week on December 11th as our 5th - 8th grade share an evening of Lessons and Carols  (see details below) .  Another Advent opportunity available is to participate in the Service Club sweatshirt drive (see details below).

I'd also like to remind everyone to take time this Advent to slow down and remember safety in our parking lot. With shorter, darker days and the busyness of the holiday craze, it's important to slow down and be extra aware of children and parents walking in the parking lot and cars entering and exiting parking lot spaces.

Advent Blessings,

Kathleen O'Reilly

Principal

Service Club Collecting Sweatshirts for Christmas in Dublin
The St. Brigid Service Club saw the need for sweatshirts at the Run the Race Club, so they are holding a new or gently used sweatshirt collection drive. Their goal is to collect 110 sweatshirts so that all the children from Run the Race who come to Christmas in Dublin will receive one as a gift.

They are asking parents to donate a sweatshirt in the size of their children, so that it should cover the sizing needed for all the Run the Race children.

All new or gently used sweatshirts need to be turned in by next Wednesday, December 10 to the school office.

To learn more about the Run the Race Club, view this informative and inspirational video here.

Volunteers are needed to help with Christmas in Dublin. To volunteer or get more information, contact Dina Gay at dina@cbdfabricationandsupply.com.

Gifts of Gratitude Due Friday

The Home and School Association established Gifts of Gratitude as a united effort by families to provide generous gifts for all teachers and staff to thank them for sharing their talents with our children on a daily basis.

Each family's $20 contribution per child provides for each teacher and staff member:

  • A Christmas monetary gift card
  • A special Christmas gift item
  • A special end-of-year gift item and monetary gift card

Your family's participation in this program is optional. The suggested annual gift amount is $20 per child; however, any amount given is graciously accepted. There are two payment options:

1)      Quick and easy: pay securely through PayPal! Log on to www.paypal.com, choose the "send money to friends and family" option, enter the email address sbkgiftsofgratitude@gmail.com and the total amount your family would like to contribute, and complete the transaction.

 2)      Send a check to school with your child payable to St. Brigid Home and School. Please mark the outside of the envelope with "Home and School Gifts of Gratitude."

Please send your contribution by Friday, December 5.

Questions regarding the Gifts of Gratitude program may be directed to Home & School Association Vice Co-Chairs: Mary Moore at mary.moore@live.com and Theresa Vivona atvivona1012@gmail.com.

Thank you for your generosity!
