It's not too late to sign up for Scrip!

There are still two months remaining to earn tuition credit for the 2017-18 school year! Through Scrip, families purchase gift cards from nearly 400 retailers and receive a rebate that is later applied to their tuition statement.

What makes St. Brigid's program special is that 100 percent of the rebate or discount is credited to each participating family's individual St. Brigid tuition account.

By partnering with the Great Lakes Scrip Company, St. Brigid receives the gift cards at a discount ranging from nearly 2 percent to as much as 30 percent, based on the retailer. St. Brigid families pay face value for the cards and the rebated amount is applied to next year's tuition.

Scrip Now! and reloadable gift cards make it even easier for families to add up the savings. Scrip Now! are electronic gift cards that can be ordered online anytime of the day or night. They are sent to your e-mail account and can be printed out and taken to the store or used online.

There also are more than 50 Reload Now cards that add funds in minutes and Reload cards that add funds overnight. Once one of these cards has been ordered through the Scrip program, additional money can be added from your computer or smart phone.

Our next order deadline for the regular (non-electronic) gift cards is Monday, Feb. 13 at midnight. All purchases made before March 31, 2017, will be applied to 2017-18 tuition statements. Purchase made April 1, 2017, or later will be applied to 2018-19 tuition statements.

For more information on how you can take advantage of Scrip, please read the information sheet and print out the 2016-17 calendar, or contact Scrip co-chairs Susan Moreland at (614) 399-3267 and srfcmoreland@gmail.com, or Christine Drab at (614) 256-9065 and christinedrab@sbcglobal.net

You'll learn practical ways to pay off debt, overcome your fear of budgeting, and create a savings plan to replace retirement worries with financial peace. More than 4.5 million people have changed their futures with Financial Peace
University. You can too!

Financial Peace University will begin Wednesday, February 15 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM in Hendricks Hall.

Our SPiCE Story: The Owens Family

From Tracy and Jeanne Owens:
We have lived in Dublin for nearly ten years, moving from Philadelphia in early 2007.  Henry was 5; he's now 14 and a freshman at Bishop Watterson High School.  Evie was 3; she's now in 7th grade at St. Brigid of Kildare School.  And Eliot was a newborn baby.

Two years later Eliot was diagnosed with autism.  In addition to the physical and mental difficulties that his condition was expected to cause, we were very worried about his emotional and spiritual well being.

Before starting kindergarten, we met several times with the staff at St. Brigid School.  We were very comfortable with the conditions and we were assured that children with special needs are welcome in an inclusive classroom so, together with the teaching team, we built a plan for Eliot's success.

We have now served as Chairs of the SPiCE program at St. Brigid of Kildare Parish for three years.   The SPiCE program at St. Brigid is more than just a way of thinking.  It is a concerted effort to bring strong awareness of conditions that require support, and to provide the necessary tools and skills for teachers to reach students who learn in non-traditional ways, and to keep students in the classroom with their peers and not out in a separate room.  SPiCE is making a tremendous difference in Eliot's life because he is learning his schoolwork, advancing his faith formation, and learning to make friends.

SPiCE has been helpful for Henry and Evie and other students, too.  Understanding special needs gives kids a strong foundation in empathy, serving others, early leadership skills, and expanding what it means to be a friend.

Support SPiCE - Corks for a Cause
The annual Corks for a Cause is a night that brings awareness to our SPiCE program, and is the main fundraiser that provides the money to allow the program to help hundreds of children in our elementary school and religious education program.

Altar Server training is Feb 19

All students in the fifth grade and older are invited to become Altar Servers for the Weekend and Holy Day Masses.

At the present time we have only 99  Altar  Servers. This is not a sufficient number for all the liturgical needs we have at St. Brigid of Kildare. Therefore, we are urging all those in fifth grade and above to consider becoming an  Altar  Server. You will have only one evening class to attend, one short section from the Liturgical Ministry Manual to read and study, and three mentoring sessions with an experienced  Altar  Server. Do this and you are ready to be scheduled as an  Altar  Server. It is a rewarding service!

Our next training session for  Altar  Servers is  February 19, 2017, Sunday afternoon in Church from  3:00 pm until 4:45 pm. Please register by  February 12  so that we can be prepared to welcome you.  Register online here.

For more information, please  contact Todd Pepe or Steve Gyuro at
