In This Issue

Dear Parents,

We had our 3rd school safety drill yesterday morning and it went very well.  Teachers reviewed with students the procedures that we taught in September and October and actually practiced a CONTROLLED barricading of the classroom door.  Teachers held age appropriate discussions to debrief with the students.  We will have two more planned drills this school year.  One will be in March and the other in May.

We have added some important dates for the 15-16 school year to the website, which you can find here.

Thank you to everyone who has completed our new online re-registration process. If you have not yet completed it, please find the link and more information below. The deadline is this Friday, February 13 to avoid a late fee and to hold your spot for next year. If you are paying by check, your check must be received in the school office by Friday to be on time.

The Father/Daughter Dance is coming up on Friday, February 20. Be sure to view the article below and purchase your tickets now if you'd like to attend.

Sincerely,

Kathleen O'Reilly

Principal

EPIC and Ash Wednesday Food Drive

Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent.  The Social Action Committee is conducting a food drive during all Masses this day.  Please give generously as you are able.  The School Mass will be held at 9 a.m.  All food collected will be given to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank and the Dublin Food Pantry.  This will help many in need in our area.  In addition, the EPIC Youth Group will be taking the Dublin portion of the donation to the Food Pantry on Sunday, February 22, and our kids will get much more from the experience if they have a good amount of food to sort, weigh, shelf and box.  We want to help others and give our kids a meaningful experience of service to inspire them to want to do more.  Thanks in advance for your generosity and for helping those in need.

Caroling for a Cause

On Friday, December 19th about 35 St. Brigid students went caroling to neighborhoods around St Brigid.

The group started with an Advent prayer service in the church near the manger, then divided into three groups and went caroling for about 1 hour in the cold.  The children were all bundled up, wore their favorite Christmas hats and rang their Jingle Bells and spread Christmas cheer. Afterwards, they celebrated at Tim Hortons with candy canes and a free donated hot chocolate.

The Caroling for a Cause was all to raise money for Nationwide Children's Hospital Heart Center. The St. Brigid group caroled in honor of Ruthie Walling, a St. Brigid kindergartner. The group raised $310 for the Heart Center at Children's Hospital.
Corks for a Cause - Sat, March 7

This annual event is in its ninth year and is a fun night that not only brings awareness to our SPiCE program, but is the main fundraiser that provides the money to allow the program
to help hundreds of children in our elementary school and religious education program. Thanks to our many volunteers and donors
this event is able to raise over $60,000 for the children of our parish each year.

We would love to have you join us and get involved in any way you can. To RSVP for the event, contact Sarah Moore at 761-3734 or [email protected]. Reservations are $60 per person until February 25, and $75 per person after.

Lenten Opportunities with Sister Teresa Tuite

There will be two separate Lenten opportunities offered through Sister Teresa Tuite and the School of Adult Faith Formation.

BIBLE STUDY

Father Barron paints a beautiful and mysterious image of what it takes to be a follower of Jesus Christ. He lays out three intriguing paths to holiness:

Finding the Center, Knowing You Are A Sinner and Realizing Your Life is Not About You
Over the course of this study, we will be taking a look at the teaching of the Catholic Church concerning our center in Christ Jesus, his power to heal our lives, and his command to go on mission.

These sessions will be held on Wednesdays, February 25, March 4 and March 18 at 9:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in Hendricks Hall.

LENTEN SPEAKER

On March 1 at the 5:00PM Vespers, Fr. Vinny McKiernan, C.S.P. will share with us Centering Prayer. Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship

Continuing on Monday, March 2 at 7:00 PM Fr. Vinny will offer an experience of Centering Prayer and also introduce other contemplative prayer practices. Fr. Vinny is a Paulist Father who ministers at the St. Thomas More Newman Center at Ohio State.

For questions or more information on either opportunity, you may contact Sister Tersa Tuite at[email protected] or call the parish office at 761-3734 ext. 275.
