Dear Parents,
Will Spring ever come? Looks like we will still need to be patient as we are expecting another Arctic blast for Friday and Saturday. With the hope that we will have school on Friday in spite of the predicted below zero temperatures, we will have one last non-uniform day and celebrate Frozen Fleece Friday. I hope that being able to dress in warm clothes has helped to made this week a little easier at the bus stop.
Stay warm,
Kathleen O'Reilly
Principal

Parish Lenten Opportunities
There will be two separate Lenten opportunities offered through Sister Teresa Tuite and the School of Adult Faith Formation.
BIBLE STUDY
Father Barron paints a beautiful and mysterious image of what it takes to be a follower of Jesus Christ. He lays out three intriguing paths to holiness:
Finding the Center, Knowing You Are A Sinner and Realizing Your Life is Not About You Over the course of this study, we will be taking a look at the teaching of the Catholic Church concerning our center in Christ Jesus, his power to heal our lives, and his command to go on mission.
These sessions will be held on Wednesdays, February 25, March 4 and March 18 at 9:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in Hendricks Hall.
LENTEN SPEAKER On March 1 at the 5:00PM Vespers, Fr. Vinny McKiernan, C.S.P. will share with us Centering Prayer. Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship
Continuing on Monday, March 2 at 7:00 PM Fr. Vinny will offer an experience of Centering Prayer and also introduce other contemplative prayer practices. Fr. Vinny is a Paulist Father who ministers at the St. Thomas More Newman Center at Ohio State.
For questions or more information on either opportunity, you may contact Sister Tersa Tuite at [email protected] or call the parish office at 761-3734 ext. 275.
To read more details on both opportunities, click here.

Three Alumni Named National Merit Finalists
Three St. Brigid alumni have been named National Merit Finalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for their exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The students are DJ Matthews (St. Charles), Maria Jeric (BWHS) and Sophia Wible (BWHS).
Approximately 16,000 Semifinalists were announced, based upon their scores on the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). All three of our St. Brigid alumni who were named Semifinalists have advanced to Finalist standing, which is composed of less than one percent of U.S. high school graduating seniors. These academically talented seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,300 National Merit Scholarships worth about $33 million that will be offered next spring.
Congrats to our alumni!
