Monsignor Hendricks on the Cover of Dublin Life
When you receive the February/March 2015 issue of the Dublin Life magazine you'll see Monsignor Hendricks (and Kerry) on the cover.

The article covers Monsignor's background and history, as well as the successful outreach he has achieved in both the Columbus and Saint Brigid of Kildare communities. The article also discusses the school endowment campaign he launched and the success and many achievements of the school.

New Blue Ribbon Medallion
You might have noticed when walking into the main entrance of Saint Brigid of Kildare School the new bronze medallion mounted on the wall.

We received our 2014 National Blue Ribbon School bronze medallion and positioned it to the left of our matching 2008 medallion. Take a look next time you enter the building!

Parent Like a Champion Training

The next Parent Like a Champion Today training will be offered Tuesday, March 10 from 7-8 p.m. in Hendricks Hall.

WHO: Since the diocese is staging this training (and 'grand-fathering' in the 'older grades'), this training must be completed by July 2015 for this year's 4th grade parents (NEXT YEAR's 5th Grade Parents), and starting fall 2015 will need to be completed before children can participate in DRA sports programs for next year's (2015-2016 School year) 4th and 5th grade parents. Only 1 parent per family needs to attend but both parents are welcome. This training only needs to be attended by parents once (not for each sport or each year).  Head coaches who have completed Play Like a Champion do NOT need to also take Parent Like a Champion Today.

WHAT: The Diocese Recreation Association (DRA) has implemented this training. This is a sports workshop for parents which teaches them strategies to be champion sports parents in their attitude and behaviors and enables them to positively partner with their children's coaches.

Service Club Thank You

Below is a thank you letter we received from KidSmiles regarding our recent service project with them.

Dear Mrs. DeLucia and Community Service Club of St. Brigid of Kildare:

Thank you for volunteering your time to assemble dental hygiene goody bags for our educational outreach program!  Each year our goody bags reach over 7,500 students across the greater Columbus area. We visit area preschools, elementary schools, and community events to share our dental hygiene message of brushing two times a day for two minutes each time.  We also promote healthy eating and visiting the dentist twice a year.

I hope you are proud of your contribution to the community and know that your efforts will truly impact the lives of over 7,500 children this year.

Thank you for helping to give the children of central Ohio something to smile about!

Fundraising Project from an Alum

Below is a letter from Gabe Lawson, a St. Brigid alum:

My name is Gabe Lawson, and I am a senior at St. Charles Preparatory School. In addition, I am a graduate of St. Brigid's Class of 2011. St. Brigid's focus on service prepared me well to continue reaching out for opportunities to serve others throughout high school.

At the all school Mass on Friday, I shared with the students my experience in Guatemala City's garbage dump community. I am grateful for the students' commitment to bring in their own money to help eight high school students who are currently enrolled in an education program for teens living there to attend college. The cost to send these eight students to college is $20,000, or $2,500 per student. Each scholarship will provide tuition, books, school supplies, and academic support.

In December, I launched a fundraiser for the nonprofit International Samaritan (www.intsam.org) called "SC Cares". Further information describing this fundraiser, and an opportunity to donate online to SC Cares can be accessed through the link http://www.razoo.com/story/Sc-Cares-College-Scholarship-Fund.

I greatly appreciate your consideration for this cause. I hope that with your help, these students can break through the barriers of poverty. As "Disciples on a Journey," we will join together to spread charity and love to these students. Thank you again to Ms. O'Reilly and the entire St. Brigid Community for helping me in this effort.
