Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support of the Catholic Schools Week events.  It was wonderful to have so many people join us for the Feast of St. Brigid Mass, 8th grade vs. Watterson basketball game and Pizza Bingo!  All of these great traditions make our community a special place for families to grow in faith and build strong lifelong relationships.  On February 1st we also shared with our school families the financial structure of our school.  At that time we also announced the opportunity to participate in a 9-week program called the Financial Peace University.  This is a great opportunity for all families. To learn more about this program please read the story below.

Please also remember to re-register your children for the next school year if you haven't yet. The deadline for re-registration is this Friday, February 10. You can use this link to fill out the re-registration form.

Blessings,

Kathy O'Reilly

Annual Fund - Did You Know?

Drum Circle is a beginner level ensemble designed to teach the basics of playing hand drums and handheld percussion while working together in a large group.  Students enjoyed learning about different styles of world drumming and developed the listening and cooperation skills needed to perform in an ensemble.  The drum circle season concluded with a wonderful performance at the December choir concert.

Thank you for your support of the Annual Fund!

Our SPiCE Story: The Brady Family

From Tom and Karri Brady:
When we were preparing to register our daughter, Nora, for kindergarten, many people told us that we had a difficult choice to make.  It was a choice that, for many years, faithful Catholic parents of children with special learning needs had to make: either send their child to a public school that had specialized intervention services but no faith formation or send their child to a Catholic school that had high academic standards and faith formation but lacked specialized intervention services.  However, as we know, our God and our Catholic faith are not either-or entities, but rather they emanate both -- and generosity.  Hence while researching area schools, we read about SPiCE, Special People in Catholic Education, at St. Brigid.  What a blessing to find a Catholic school that had both high academic standards and also specialized intervention services including both additional intervention staff and also adaptive spaces, technology, and equipment!

St. Brigid's SPiCE program has benefited Nora in more ways than we can count.  Nora loves taking breaks in the multi-sensory room to calm down and burn off extra energy.  SPiCE provides additional staff such as the Educational Support Assistants who enable Nora to receive lots of small group and individualized help that she would not otherwise have available to her in the regular classroom environment.  Most importantly, everyone in the St. Brigid family -- staff and students alike -- care for Nora as a unique daughter of God who "in virtue of her dignity as a human person, has an inalienable right to education, adapted to her ability" (Vatican II document Gravissimum Educationis).  Because of the funding that the SPiCE program is able to provide, we, as her parents, feel blessed by the opportunities Nora has at St. Brigid both to participate in a Christ-centered education and to receive amazing intervention services.

Sincerely,
Tom & Karri  Brady,  Nora (5th Grade),  Joe (2nd Grade)

Support SPiCE - Corks for a Cause
The annual Corks for a Cause is a night that brings awareness to our SPiCE program, and is the main fundraiser that provides the money to allow the program to help hundreds of children in our elementary school and religious education program.

Altar Server training is Feb 19

All students in the fifth grade and older are invited to become Altar Servers for the Weekend and Holy Day Masses.

At the present time we have only 99  Altar  Servers. This is not a sufficient number for all the liturgical needs we have at St. Brigid of Kildare. Therefore, we are urging all those in fifth grade and above to consider becoming an  Altar  Server. You will have only one evening class to attend, one short section from the Liturgical Ministry Manual to read and study, and three mentoring sessions with an experienced  Altar  Server. Do this and you are ready to be scheduled as an  Altar  Server. It is a rewarding service!

Our next training session for  Altar  Servers is  February 19, 2017, Sunday afternoon in Church from  3:00 pm until 4:45 pm. Please register by  February 12  so that we can be prepared to welcome you.  Register online here.

For more information, please  contact Todd Pepe or Steve Gyuro at
