Dear Parents,
This past weekend, the diocese switched out its email server for all @cdeducation email addresses. We have the appropriate forwarding set up, but are still experiencing some missing or delayed emails. If you emailed any staff at their @cdeducation address and have not received a timely response, please call the office to make sure the message was received.
Catholic Schools Week will be celebrated across the nation from January 25th - February 1st. This year marks the 41st anniversary of this festive week that highlights what makes Catholic education distinctive and exceptional. During this week, we focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our parish communities and our nation. This year's theme reminds us that we are all called to be disciples on a lifelong journey of learning about our faith and bringing our faith into action in service to others.
Families too are on a journey of discipleship. With this in mind we would like to use Catholic Schools Week as an opportunity to support our school families on their journey of discipleship. Tonight and tomorrow night at student-led conferences, your family will be receiving a gift. We offer this gift as a way to encourage families to spend quality time together reading, discussing important ideas and topics, doing fun activities, and praying together. These projects will be kicked off as a part of our Catholic Schools Week activities.
(Please note: Family life is so important that there will be a World Meeting of Families held in Philadelphia in September 2015. Pope Francis has already announced that he will be attending as he makes his first visit to the US as pontiff. More information can be found at http://www.worldmeeting2015.org/. The theme of this important Catholic summit will be Love is Our Mission. Look for more information on this in the coming months.)
In addition to our family projects, we have several special events planned for the week of January 25th - February 1st. Please see the projects detailed in the article below.
Happy Catholic Schools Week,
Kathleen O'Reilly
Principal
