Dear Parents,

Next week we celebrate National  Catholic Schools Week! This theme "Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed." encompasses the core values that can be found in Catholic schools across the country. Not only are we teaching students to become future servant leaders, faith-filled disciples and enriched citizens in our communities, we, as educators, are growing with them. In Catholic schools, we are all learners, servants and leaders. These shared qualities are what make Catholic schools work. They are what make Catholic schools succeed.

Please join us as your schedule permits as we celebrate our Catholic school next week:

Sunday, Jan 28:
  • Students will be asked to wear uniforms to Mass, and school families are asked to serve at all of the Masses to show our gratitude for the religious guidance, prayers and support of our parish.
  • Grade 7 & 8 students are invited to a special learning opportunity:  Take A Part Technology Event from 2-4 pm (see more details in story below).
Monday, Jan 29:
  • Our 7th and 8th grade students will share their creative presentations about the lessons portrayed in the WONDER movie and Nemo movie and how they are connected to the Beatitudes.  They will be teaching their younger classmates about the importance of learning and living a life based on the teachings of the Beatitudes from 8:30 - 9 am.
  • All K-8 students will also make a thank you card for parents.
  • Parents and students are invited to write a note of appreciation to teachers and staff.
  • We will also be recognizing our teachers and staff and thanking them for dedicating themselves to a life of service and leadership in Catholic education. Our Home and School will be providing a special lunch for staff.
Tuesday, Jan 30:

  • Students will wear all different colors and types of socks....if you will  - a mosaic of socks!  Students will also be asked to serve the community by bringing a new pair of socks to donate to JOIN and to the Welcome Warehouse located in Dublin. Students will learn about the work  these social agencies do to help families in need.  The collection will take place Tuesday, January 30  - Friday, February 2nd.
  • NCEA's National Day of Giving begins at 9 am -- see details in the article below.
Wednesday, Jan 31:
  • Students will enjoy their favorite lunch of calzones and enjoy a spirit wear day for this Student Appreciation Day.  Students may dress down and are encouraged to wear school colors or spirit wear.  The annual Watterson vs.8th grade basketball game will take place at 1:30 pm.
Thursday, Feb 1:
  • St. Brigid Feast Day -- Please join us for Mass at 9 am as we pray the Litany to St. Brigid to continue to watch over our school and provide our students with the opportunity to learn in a faith-based environment.
  • The celebration will continue with Feast Day Parties in the afternoon.
Friday, Feb 2:
  • The CARE meeting will take place as our 8th grade leaders continue their work to teach the younger students about the lives of the saints who are portrayed in the mosaics in Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
  • Everyone may enjoy a dress down day
  • We will close the week with a great family event - Pizza Bingo!
I am grateful every day for the teachers, staff, parents, students, SAC board members, Home and School volunteers, and Athletic Association volunteers who work together to make our school so successful.  National Catholic Schools Week is a good time for all of us to thank everyone in our community for their dedication and service.

May the blessings of St. Brigid guide you each day,
Kathy O'Reilly

NCEA National Day of Giving
Tuesday, January 30

Twenty years ago, Saint Pope John Paul II said to an audience of Catholic educators in New Orleans: "Yours is a great gift to the Church, a great gift to your nation."  Countless people in our country have been blessed by the many gifts of Catholic schools. However, many adults have lost touch with their local Catholic school community. It is time for those people who have been impacted by your school to reconnect with the community that gave them so much, and give back.

National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States, and is January 28 - February 3 this year. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2018 is "Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed." Schools observe the annual celebration week with events that focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation.  Here at St. Brigid of Kildare we have so much to celebrate.

To support Catholic Schools Week the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) is pleased to present the online giving campaign: Many Gifts, One Nation: A Day of Giving to Catholic Schools.

This is a time for you to give back to St. Brigid of Kildare.  This is a way for people across the country to support the good work we are doing right here in Dublin, Ohio.  You can send the link below to grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends or anyone that might want to support our school.    This year, Saint Brigid of Kildare granted tuition-assistance grants totaling over $270,000 to over 125 students.  You have the ability to change a child's life by donating during this time.  Through your donation, deserving children will receive scholarships to continue their Catholic education (all dollars raised go directly to St. Brigid of Kildare School).

When?
On January 30, 2018, from 9:00 am to January 31, 2018 at 9:00 am  just click on the below link to make your donation and show your support of Catholic Education.  Forward this link onto others who have also been impacted by Catholic education.

Catholic schools change lives and now is the time to give back!
