May Crowning Mass (9 am)

Dear Parents,

This weekend we have a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and pray as a community.  On Saturday we will celebrate with our 2 nd grade students as they receive their 1 st Communion and then on Sunday we will honor all mothers on Mother's Day.   The following week on Friday, May 19th our May traditions continue with our 2 nd and 8 th grade students leading our May procession for our May Crowning ceremony.   Monsignor Hendricks will bless sacramentals for our students after Mass on Friday. Students may bring in rosaries, medals, chaplets, etc. that have previously not been blessed for the blessing right after Mass.

Next week on Thursday, May 18th, students will participate in another time honored tradition - Wolfhound Field Day!  Please see the story below for more details and to sign up to volunteer.  Also, please keep in mind that Thursday, May 18th will be Early Release at 1:30 pm.  Please note there will be no school Mass on May 18th.

Tuition packets are going home TODAY and are due back to the school office by next Tuesday, May 16.

During this month of honoring Mary, may we all continue to look to Mary for guidance in following God's plan.

Blessings,

Kathy O'Reilly

Breakfast Cart Trial -- Parents Opinions, Please

The Breakfast/Snack Cart was offered to all students K - 8 during the week of May 1 - 5. This Cart was the result of a 2016 survey indicating that 20% of St. Brigid students do not eat breakfast before coming to school. The Cart offerings included: apples, bananas, grapes, cheese sticks, and the following cereals: Kix, Cheerios, Crispix, and Reduced-sugar Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Students were able to purchase a max of 2 items that were charged to their lunch account. Food items were priced from $0.25 - $0.50.

Parents, please take a moment to provide feedback regarding this trial.

Your children will also be surveyed within the next week to gather their thoughts about the Cart. Thank you in advance from the Wellness Committee.

Robotics Club Wrap Up

The robotics club recently wrapped up its 2016-2017 school year season. It was great to see the high turnout between our 5th and 6th grade club and 7th and 8th grade club. Both groups made great progress learning how to program and problem solve. The 5th and 6th grade team learned how to program their spheros to navigate through a maze. A lot of trial, error, and patience was needed.

The 7th and 8th grade team spent most of the year designing battle robots using the EV3 lego robot box. Again, a lot of trial and error was needed as the teams had to design and test their robots for battle. The final day was a lot of fun seeing the hard work pay off for all the teams. To see the battles, click the link above. Thank you to Mrs. Chiarotto-Haney for all her help advising and working with the group. We look forward to seeing what the teams make next year.

Grades K-4 Go On Safari!

On May 3rd students in grades K-4 had an opportunity to hear non-fiction author John Becker share tales of his safari adventures. Dr. Becker also did non-fiction writing workshops with students in grades 2-4. At lunchtime Dr. Becker had a chance to chat with some of St. Brigid's most enthusiastic young writers.

The lower grade hallway looked awesome all decorated with African animals, and displays of Dr. Beckers's books! Thank you to Mrs. Candie Williams for being Dr. Beckers's tour guide through the jungle of St. Brigid School, and thank you to all the K-4 teachers for their preparation and planning for this event!

Will my family be recognized for participating?
