Last Day to View Report Cards on SchoolSpeak

Dear Parents,

As the school year closes, it is a great time to reflect on the highlights of the past year.  We have focused on our school theme "Our Family of Disciples:  Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow" by celebrating our 20th Anniversary with several special events.  We began the year with a special anniversary Mass and recognized our alumnae with a special luncheon.  Unfortunately, our family picnic experienced a rain out, was cancelled and was joyfully revisited as a school dance and bubble party in our back yard with Arnett Howard providing the music.  Our next event featured Dr. Leonard Sax, sharing research and tips for parenting in the 21st century.  This hallmark event led to a year long series in our Wolfhound Wednesday titled "Crucial Conversations."  This series and subsequent presentations are our commitment to partnering with our parents to assist our children in their faith, academic and social/emotional development.  We closed our year of celebrations with our " Showcase of Learning" in late April.  This high energy event highlighted that the future of our world is in good hands with our talented and faith-filled students.  We have had a wonderful year celebrating our 20th anniversary.

Planning ahead to the 2017 - 18 school year I have several staff changes to announce.  I am pleased to announce that Mr. Nathan Graham, our Watterson band instructor, is joining St. Brigid School and Parish full-time.  Mr. Graham will be using his musical talents to expand our musical offerings in both the school and parish. More good news....since Mr. Graham is now on our staff there will no longer be a fee paid to Watterson to take band lessons. Please keep in mind there will still be fees for renting or purchasing musical instruments.  My next announcement is bittersweet.  Mrs. Sara Hardin has decided to take a family leave for the next school year.  Mrs. Hardin plans to return for the 2018-19 school year after spending time with her new baby James.  The last change I have at this time, is to welcome back Mrs. Katie Sachs after a one year family leave.  Mrs. Sachs will be joining the preschool team and will be the lead teacher for Hearts Class.

As the year draws to a close tomorrow, I would like to once again invite everyone to our closing school liturgy at 9:00 AM.  Following Mass we will be recognizing our school staff who have served 5, 10, 15 and 20 years at our school.  The day will close at 1:00 PM with early dismissal (Please note the change from our regular 1:30 PM early dismissal).

This is our final regular Wolfhound Wednesday for the school year.  However, periodically during the summer months there will be a Wolfhound Wednesday with summer updates.

We have prayed, we have studied, and we have played, and now it is time to take our summer break to renew, refresh and prepare for the 2017-18 school year.

Thank you for a great year and on behalf of the entire school faculty and staff we wish you a restful, prayerful and fun-filled summer.

Sincerely,

Kathy O'Reilly

SPICE Summer Get Moving Program

The St. Brigid of Kildare SPiCE Wellness and Get Moving program is sponsoring a series of fun, active events this summer such as soccer, yoga, volleyball, and a dance party. The main objective is to get children moving twice a week for 2 hours in a fun, non-competitive setting. Remember to bring a water bottle!

The Summer Get Moving program takes place June 6 - August 10, 2017. You must sign up for each individual session online. A parent consent/medical form must be turned in at your child's first session. All students entering K-6th grade in St. Brigid School, Parish, and Religious Ed are welcome, and the program will be especially sensitive to kids with special needs.  All 7th-12th grades are welcome to volunteer as helpers throughout the program; please contact Morgan Ventresco at  [email protected] if interested.

TO SIGN UP:
  1. Sign up for individual sessions here
  2. Complete the Medical Form and the Parent Consent Form and bring them to your child's first session
Summer Garden Help Needed

As the students leave for a summer break, our school garden will continue to grow! Wondering how your family can help?  No green thumbs required to pitch in on the tasks of watering, weeding, and harvesting.

There are 2 ways to be involved:
  1. Sign up as a family to cover the garden for a particular week -- come on days and at times that fit your schedule... maybe 2-3 times during your week.

  2. Sign up to receive periodic group emails to notify you when "Papa" Jack Rekstis will be in the garden with specific tasks in mind.

Our students have connected with the garden in so many ways this year... researching, planning, planting, sketching, singing, tasting, and just enjoying. Now, help keep the connection growing!

Got Meds in the Clinic?

Many students have medications in the Clinic that have been used as needed throughout the year.

Unless you are contacted by the Nurse, the medication will come home in your child's backpack on  June 1, the last day of school. Please contact us if you would prefer to pick up the medication yourself.

Cub Scouts Collecting Worn Flags

The Cub Scouts are collecting American flags that are worn and need retiring. They will be retiring them during their camp on June 3rd and 4th. Please drop off your worn American flags in the school office by Thursday, June 1.
