Dear Parents,

October is traditionally the month of the rosary.  The Church celebrates the feast of Mary, Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7th.  The rosary, one of the most loved devotions in the Catholic Church, dates back to the Middle Ages when the practice developed of praying the Hail Mary on a set of beads.  The rosary honors Mary, who praised God for looking with favor upon her.  Our students will have the opportunity to pray the rosary together as a school community on Friday, October 13th at 1:45 pm in the gym.  October 13th is also the 100th anniversary of the Fatima apparitions.  If you would like to read an article about Fatima and the importance of praying the rosary click on this link.

All parents are welcome to join us in prayer either in person or wherever you are next Friday afternoon.

Blessings,

Kathy O'Reilly

A Safety Thank You

Last week, the Dublin bus drivers presented a cake in appreciation of what a fine job Larrie Habel, Cindy Lombardo, and our staff do out front each morning to keep our children safe during drop off!

Thank you to our staff for keeping safety a top priority!
Terra Nova Testing - Grades 3-8

During the week of October 16th, 2017, 3rd-8th grade children will be taking the Terra Nova test, a standardized test adopted by the Diocese of Columbus.  The Diocese mandates testing in grades three through eight.  Testing will occur on each day of the week, Monday-Friday.

As in the past, we ask that parents do a couple of things to help their child do his/her best.
  • Don't plan any appointments that would cause your child to miss a portion of a test.
  • Make sure that your child is in bed at a time to ensure that he/she has sufficient sleep to function well.
  • Have your child eat a good breakfast before coming to school.
Terra Nova testing is important for a variety of reasons.  First, our school uses these results to help us target areas in which we can improve as a school.  Additionally, teachers use the results to see how to best meet the needs of the students in their classrooms.  For eighth graders, the Terra Nova results have a critical impact as the high schools use these results to help make placement decisions about incoming freshmen.

It is important that your child realizes that he/she is not expected to know all of the answers since this is not a test for which a student can prepare.  You can help to prevent anxiety if you take time to discuss this with your child.  Although the results are important, please remember that this is only one indicator of how your child is doing academically.  The day-to-day assessments that your child's teacher gives are a better indicator of how well your child is mastering the diocesan curricula.
Diocesan Family Rosary Day

Our Diocesan Family Rosary Day will be celebrated this year at 3 PM, Sunday, October 8 at St. Joseph Cathedral, Columbus, Ohio. This liturgy, which is presided over by Bishop Frederick F. Campbell, is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy community, worship God, and ask our Blessed Mother's intercession for the needs of God's people. All are welcome.

Home & School Meeting Today

The next Home & School meeting is today, Wednesday October 5 at 12 noon in Hendricks Hall. All are welcome!

The next meeting will be Wednesday, November 1st at 12 noon in Hendricks Hall.
