Dear Parents,

Last evening I had the privilege to celebrate the beginning of our First Communion preparation with 177 students from our school and parish religious education program.  This special celebration is full of joy and excitement as our young children prepare for one of the most important moments in their spiritual development and faith life. Please pray for all of these young people as they study and grow in faith throughout this year.

The 9:00 school Mass on Thursday will be cancelled due to both of our priests attending a funeral on Thursday morning.

Have a great week,

Kathleen O'Reilly

Principal

STEM For Daises and Brownies - Oct 28

Girl Scout Troop 2097 consisting of girls from 6th through 8th grade, invites all Kindergarten to 3rd grade Girl Scouts to an afternoon of "S.T.E.M. for Daisies and Brownies" on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Hendricks Hall from 4:45-5:45.

The Cadettes of Troop 2097 have planned an afternoon of fun for the younger Girl Scouts while learning about science, technology, engineering and math.  Participate in a rain gutter regatta and learn about wind energy.  Use measuring cups and spoons to create a yummy treat.  Experiment with baking soda and vinegar and see what happens!  Dare to hold a leopard gecko?  Hear from an engineer, Dr. Carol Clinton,  PhD, P.E., LEED AP who will talk about her latest project in South Africa.  We will also be joined by a few friends from the Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio.  Let us show these girls how welcoming we are at St. Brigid of Kildare School!  If your Daisy or Brownie is interested in attending, please email Eileen Bower at [email protected] on or before October 15.

Kindergarten Collecting Pop Tabs for Ronald McDonald
Each year the kindergartners at St. Brigid participate in a service learning project for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. The tabs are recycled and exchanged for money to use at the RMHC.

Please help us collect pop tabs and soup tabs at home. Have your child bring them into the kindergarten
classes.

SPiCE Family Fun Day - Thank You!

A big thank you to all the families that attended the SPiCE Pancake Breakfast and Family Fun Day.  It was a huge success with over 350 individuals supporting this wonderful event.  We had over 20 seventh and eighth grade students that volunteered their time and talents to help with the day.

A special thank you to the parent volunteers who made the day run smoothly. We want to recognize our co-chairs Dawn Campagni and Jackie Walling that worked tirelessly to create an event that raised nearly $7,000 for our SPiCE program that helps children in our Elementary School and Religious Education Program. We also want to thank and recognize our sponsors for their commitment to the SPiCE Program.

Fire Safety Contest

Congratulations to Carly Henry, the first place winner, and Sophia Heise, the runner up in the Washington Township Fire Department's Fire Safety contest!

Each year, the Washington Township Fire Department sponsors a contest in which all 3rd graders in any Dublin school can participate. Students draw a poster promoting the fire safety theme for the year in honor of National Fire Safety Month (October).

Firefighters from the Washington Township Fire Department came to school last week to notify the winners and award them their prizes. Winners also get to attend a ceremony at the fire house.

Girl Scouts Collecting Jackets for Jackets

The Dublin Girl Scouts will begin a seventh year of collecting gently used and new coats for "Jackets for Jackets," one of The Salvation Army's longest standing programs. Last year we collected over 350 coats! Let's see if we can double that number this year!

A box is available in the school cafeteria near the display case windows. The collection will run from October 1 through 31.

Coats of any size are welcome!

Make It a Date!

Schedule a Night Out to Focus on Your Marriage

Fr. Kavanagh will kick off a new series - Blessed is Marriage - as part of the parish's popular Make It a Date! program.

Saturday, October 18
6:15 p.m.
St. Brigid of Kildare Parish Center

Your evening begins with light appetizers and a chance to socialize with other St. Brigid couples. Then join Fr. Kavanagh as he offers a reflection on marriage and introduces a brief DVD presentation. Spouses then leave on their own date at a venue of their choice around 7:30 p.m. to privately discuss the evening's topic. This program applies the rich tradition of the Beatitudes to couples' efforts to build stronger, more holy marriages.

Registration is necessary! Please contact Christine Drab at [email protected] or 761-0524 by Thursday, October 16. The event is free and open to all married or engaged couples. If you need babysitting recommendations, please indicate with your registration and we will try to match you up with a member of the parish's High School Youth Group.

Sponsored by FamilyFirst and the St. Brigid School of Adult Faith Formation.
