Dear Parents,

Today we are mailing our final donation check, gifts cards, and colorful prayers to St. Catherine School in Port Arthur, Texas.  Our total donation is an AMAZING $10,137!  St. Catherine School has re-opened this week with a Mass of Thanksgiving and with 2 classrooms and several makeshift learning areas.   They have been able to provide free lunch to students and replace damaged school supplies due to the donations of so many Catholic school children whom they are now calling their Harvey Heroes.  Thank you 10,000 times over to all of the Harvey Heroes at St. Brigid of Kildare for your prayer support and donations for our friends in Texas.

The 2017-18 Family Directory will soon be ready.  Notification and directions for access will be sent out in a separate email to all parents by next Wednesday.

I am looking forward to seeing all of you at 6:30 pm tonight at Crucial Conversations 2.0.

Blessings,

Kathy O'Reilly

ALSO Program Sign Ups

ALSO (After-school Learning and Service Opportunities) programs help to supplement the rich curriculum at our school and allow children to explore the various interests they may have.

When your child is considering programs to sign up for, please help him or her to take a realistic look at his or her current extracurricular schedule. Will an ALSO program enrich him or her, or is he or she already committed to other activities? For those interested in participating, sign-ups will be held in classrooms on Thursday, September 21st and Friday, September 22nd. Flyers and permission slips including starting dates will be sent home the following week.

Additional Program Offering: SPiCE Get Moving
Get Moving will be a condensed version of our summer SPiCE Get Moving program. A variety of activities that include an hour of movement will be available for kids with all ability levels. On October 4th , November 8th and November 29th we will stay at St. Brigid and "get moving" from 3 - 4 p.m. On October 25th , December 6th and December 13th we will be taking field trips and "get moving" at a variety of other places from 3 -5:15 p.m. On field trip days, parents will be responsible for picking up their child at Saint Brigid at 5:15 . Parents can sign up their 1st thru 4th graders on Sign Up Genius per session. Parents will be contacted about any waivers or permission slips that need to be signed in order to participate. The sign up link will be available next week.
School Garden News

We had a great summer in the garden and still have much to do!  We have tomatoes, peppers, herbs and flowers in bloom now. Most are ready to be picked by any interested families... just stop by the garden whenever you are at school. The ALSO Garden Club (grades 4 - 6) will be starting again soon (details are in the program above).

Please remember the garden if you have spare baskets, mason jars, orphan plants or anything we can use, we are happy to take it! You can just drop it off in the garden. Any adults interested in volunteering with the Garden this fall, please leave your contact information for "Papa" Jack Rekstis via the school office.
