Dear Parents,

We had a great time on Friday celebrating International DOT Day (a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and courage)!

Our day started with a school-wide reading of "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds after morning prayers, then students had the opportunity to make their mark with a dot art project. Students and staff also expressed their creativity all day with a dot dress down day. Our staff started the day celebrating with dot-themed donuts.

Later this week you will be receiving an email from me with information about how to access the 2018-2019 Family Dirictory.

In closing, I would like to invite you to attend the Taize prayer service on Tuesday, September 25th. Many of our families attended last year and found it to be a peaceful, prayerful and memorable experience for their family.  Take time to join together as a parish family in this beautiful service of music and reflection by candlelight.

Blessings,
Kathy O'Reilly

New After-School Study Tables
Sign Up Link Below!

Through the support of our SPiCE program, Saint Brigid of Kildare School is excited to announce the new After-School Study Tables program for students in grades 5-8. The focus of these  study  tables will be for students to work on executive functioning skills such as organization, time management, and  study strategies, as well as giving children time to receive support with homework.

The  study  tables will be held in the school from 3-4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year. Mrs. DeLucia, along with other staff members, will supervise the program to ensure a quiet learning environment and give support as needed.

To Sign Up:
Parents will sign their child up for each individual session (on a first-come, first-served basis) via a Sign up Genius link. Children must be signed up at least 24 hours in advance of each session. Parents will need to bring a transportation note change for each day their child is signed up. Latchkey students may also sign up through the same link.

After-School  Study  Tables will begin on Monday, September 24.

No Student Flu Vaccine at School

We received word that flu vaccines will not be offered to our students through Columbus Public Health or Franklin County Health Services this year. The flu shot clinics will concentrate on schools where the student population has less access to health care than we do at St. Brigid of Kildare. Please contact your Primary Care provider (Pediatrician) or take advantage of the $0 copay flu vaccines offered by most retail pharmacies.

Annual flu vaccines are still the most effective defense we have against the flu virus.
Social Committee: Let's Get Together!

The Social Committee is a fairly new committee that was formed to make opportunities for parents and caregivers of our students to connect more. Last year we hosted coffee socials, walks and a kindergarten class get together. This year we are asking the room parents of each grade to plan one social gathering.

This gathering is meant to be easy and simple with the main focus of just getting people together to connect. We hope that you can join your class social event! Please keep an eye out for a class email with details of your get together!

Any questions please contact Jennifer Glatz at [email protected].

Join Home & School Committee

St. Brigid Home & School is still in need of filling the Vice Co-Chair position for the current 2018-2019 school year.  This position can be filled by one chair or two co-chairs. Home & School is a great way to get involved at St. Brigid - no prior Home & School experience is needed (all positions will receive training and information from the past chairperson).

Vice Co-Chairs
The vice co-chairs assist the co-chairs in overseeing the committees and special school events. They are responsible for overseeing the Gifts of Gratitude program in December and May and recognizing birthdays of office staff. The position is a one-year term before filling a one-year term as co-chairs.
Time Commitment: moderate and consistent throughout the year. The co-chairs should attend the monthly home and school meetings.

Will an ALSO program enrich him or her, or is he or she already committed to other activities? Lemonade Stand for Florence
Last weekend, St. Brigid student Abby Radtke and a friend organized a lemonade and cookie stand to help victims of Hurricane Florence.

NBC4 is doing a "Day of Giving" for Hurricane Florence victims, so their efforts from this weekend have been successfully donated to the American Red Cross relief efforts to help people in need. Both girls said it felt great to help and had tons of fun while they did it!
