Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible,
but not with God; all things are possible with God.”

Mark 10:27

Chaplain's Corner
In this past week’s chapel, Jason McLeod led our students and faculty through Jesus’s encounter with a man who is commonly referred to as the Rich Young Ruler.

As you are in your homes, eating around the table, or in the car together, consider discussing the following questions with your students to help open up the opportunity to have spiritual-minded conversations with your student(s)…

[READ MARK 10:17-31]

  • “Why do you think this man sought Jesus out?”

  • “What did Jesus tell this man to go do? Why did Jesus tell him to do that one thing? What does this tell us about what Jesus asks of us?”

  • “Why do you think that Jesus’s Disciples were so surprised and shocked that Jesus told this man to go do what He told him to do?”

  • “What do you think Jesus meant when He said, ‘It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God.’?”

  • “Talk about how personally encouraging it is to you to cling to Jesus’s words: ‘With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.’”

  • “Jason McLeod asked this question: ‘Do I want a short-term prize that I cannot keep or do I want an eternal treasure that I cannot lose?’ How does this question personally impact you?”

From the Head of School

From Col Seth Hathaway, Head of School,
Regarding Winter Illness:
Dear Parents:

Media reports on the severity of this year’s flu strain are prolific, as are the recommendations on how to combat it. We have been closely monitoring our attendance records for both students and teachers, and we are thankful to report we have fared very well in comparison to other schools our size.

Antiseptic wipes for student desktops, classroom door handles, etcetera, have been purchased, distributed, and used by teachers in all grades Pre-K through 12th. Routine reminders to wash hands and the importance of keeping hands away from the mouth and nose are included in lunchroom announcements, as are reminders on the importance of placing one’s face in the crook of the arm for coughs. We have emphasized the importance of staying home to avoid spreading any germs to others if one feels ill.
