Christian Character Development Program
Prince Avenue Baptist Church College Pastor Sky Pratt will be the Fall quarter distinguished speaker in the Christian Character Development Program.

The purpose of the Christian Character Development Program, according to Head of school Seth Hathaway, is to educate and develop the next generation of leaders for Christ by teaching biblical values that promote personal integrity, ethical decision making and sound judgment, social responsibility, accountability within a body of believers, and acts of service.

Effective Christian education transcends intellectual development; it involves the effective and practical teachings of Jesus Christ as its foundation upon which traits like integrity, moral and ethical decision making, and servant leadership are taught.

The program consists of four pillars: distinguished speakers, student discussion groups, the student honor code, and a community service program.

During chapel next week, students will have the opportunity to discuss the topics addressed by Pastor Pratt in small groups.

Lunch and Learn
This week, students interested in a nursing career can hear about the profession from PACS parent Lori Wilfong during lunch on Friday, October 14.

Mrs. Wilfong grew up in Athens, GA and graduated from Clarke Central High School. She graduated from the Medical College of Georgia as a scholarship student of St. Mary's Hospital with a bachelor's of science degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for St. Mary's for 15 years on medical and surgical units and served on the Shared Governance Council for Nursing. Lori has also worked in an outpatient surgical center and is currently employed at Athens Spine Center.  She is an active member of Athens Church and mother of three boys: Jack, Sted, and Charlie.

Chaplain's Corner

In Chapel this week, I spoke from Luke 15. In this chapter, Jesus gives us the parable of the Prodigal Son…the ultimate homecoming story!

As you and your family go about life this week, consider the following questions for conversation:

CONVERSATIONS STARTERS:

Read through Luke 15:11-24.

“In the parable of the Prodigal Son, what does it say about the father that he gave the youngest son his share of his inheritance?

“How is God’s love for us exhibited in the fact that He freely allows us to accept Him or reject Him, obey Him or disobey Him?”

“What are some temptations in your life that look good, but, in the end, will lead to devastation?”

“Why do you think it takes people so long to ‘come to their senses’ (Luke 15:17)?”

“In the parable of the Prodigal Son, what does it say about the father that he ran to his son, embraced him, accepted him back, and threw a party for his return?”

According to the Bible, how does God respond to us when we turn to Him and/or return to Him?”

“How can I pray for you?”

We love partnering with each of you and being a part of what God is doing and continuing to do in your families!
