" As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and
his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
' Come, follow me', Jesus said, 'and I will send you out to fish for people.'
At once they left their nets and followed him."

Mark 1:16-18

Chaplain's Corner
This past week in Chapel, we continued our trek through the Book of Mark by focusing on Jesus’s calling of the Apostles…and by extension, what it truly means to accept His invitation to “Follow Me.”

As you are in your homes, in your cars, and around the table this upcoming week, read the following passages and discuss the following questions:

[READ Mark 1:15-20; Mark 2:13-17; and John 21:18-22]

  • “When Jesus called the Apostles with a simple ‘Follow Me’, why was it important that He placed their focus on Him and not rules or religious rituals/ceremonies?”

  • “The two prerequisites of being a disciple/follower of Jesus were and still are: be a true seeker of God and be an admitted sinner. Why are both of these prerequisites absolutely essential?”

  • “Why is it important to know that the paths that God has for each one of us to bring glory to Him are as unique as each one of our lives?”

  • “Why is it important to know that the path that God has for your life is not about making your life comfortable, but rather it is about bringing glory to God?”

  • “Following Jesus means that you will need to make some counter-cultural and unpopular decisions with very real consequences. What are some counter-cultural and unpopular decisions that a Christ-follower might need to make? What are some specific examples of the real consequences that a Christ-follower may face for making counter-cultural and unpopular decisions?”
