- Women's March Update -
- Uniting All Chicago-
Dear Neighbors,

I was proud to participate in the historic and peaceful Women's March on
Chicago over the weekend. One of the lead organizers, Jennifer Fardy, a member our #1school1community board for Lincoln Park High School, asked me to work on making the event safe and successful and I was honored to represent you to be the first speaker at the rally.

Hundreds of 43rd Ward residents, from every corner - local business people, high school and college students, moms and dads and kids - enthusiastically participated.

Chicago staged the second largest US rally  - over 250,000.  For more photos, check out our Facebook Page.

Human Relations Committee Resolution

In light of the many issues facing our country today, I joined several Aldermen in a resolution condemning "racism, xenophobia, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, and all other forms of hate."  Among other items, we also pledged to recommit ourselves to stand up for the rights of all individuals to live without fear of discrimination and  "call on all Chicago residents to stand united in defense of our common values and each other's civil and human rights."

Our ward strongly stands for the values of free speech and the resolution which passed unanimously in the Human Relations Committee, and will likely pass in City Council this Wednesday.  For a full copy of the resolution, click here.
