International Women's Day RJen delivers

This Sunday, March 10th, 11am

(NOTE: Sunday is daylight savings!)

  International Women's Day

In the old country, International Women's Day (March 8th) was HUGE - it was Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, your anniversary, and your daughter's birthday...all rolled into one. If you were a guy, you had flowers for every woman, young and old, in your life. And it wasn't just Hallmark - it was a day that really stood out.

Join us on Sunday, March 10th as we bring flowers, care packages and warmth to the homes of elderly Russian-speaking women in our community.
This is an amazing event for volunteers and seniors alike - don't miss the chance to make it happen!

Registration is required. We ask participants to contribute $10/person, to cover the cost of flowers and small care packages.

A night at the opera! Rigoletto

Wednesday, April 24th, 7:30pm

Here is an amazing opportunity to see a modern twist on a classic opera. Join us in balcony seats for an incredible price. (40-50% off. Yes, we are connected.)

"Michael Mayer's bold new production locates Verdi's tragedy of lust, betrayal, and revenge in Las Vegas in 1960. Zeljko Lucic sings the title role and Diana Damrau is his beautiful daughter, who falls under the spell of Piotr Beczala's womanizing Duke."
---
"It's wildly entertaining, inventive, strangely funny and yet also deeply sad... Mayer captures both the emotional depth and surface glitter in an audacious staging..." (Bloomberg).

"Briskly entertaining, richly sung" (New York Magazine)

When: Wednesday, April 24th, 7:30pm
Where: MET Opera, Lincoln Center - Meet by the fountain at 7:00pm to claim tickets

Jewish Spirituality

What is Prayer?

Thursday, March 21st, 7:30pm

What is prayer? And what is the Jewish practice of prayer? What is it that Jews do and say when we go to synagogue, and what purpose does it serve?  Is it possible that Jewish prayer, Tefillah, can serve as a practice for self-awareness and mindfulness?

When we encounter moments that rock our world we often bracket these experiences as 'out of the ordinary' and put them aside. Bu there are times when we feel drawn to something more -- a need for analysis, a greater self-awareness, a connection to something deeper. This search is the art of Tefillah (Jewish prayer).

RJeneration invites you to join Samuel Klein in examining the meaning, art and practice of Tefillah as a means of deepening awareness, building relationships and strengthening community. Through group experience and discussion, we will explore the practice of prayer in attempt to understand how it may enhance our connectedness to Judaism, our inner strength, and each other.

Exploration of Prayer is a new RJeneration series for those interested in delving deeper into their spiritual practices and exploring where and how Judaism fits into their lives. Please join us on this journey, wherever you may be on its path.

About RJeneration
Born in the Soviet Union -- made in America

We came to America as kids and teens, brought by our parents. Some were born enroute, and some were born here. We are a generation of Americans with a second culture and language, a Russian heritage, Jewish roots, and a defining immigrant experience. We've juggled our "hybrid" Russian-Jewish-American identity throughout our lives.

Many of us went to the top high schools and colleges in the country. English is our primary language, but we still speak Russian. Runglish is also our style. We're Jewish, despite yeshiva traumas. We're in our 20's and 30's, busy building successful careers in every imaginable field. Some of us are already household names - Sergey Brin, Gary Shteyngart, David Bezmozgis, Lenny Krayzelberg, Mila Kunis, Regina Spektor. Many others are sure to follow and make their mark.

The RJeneration community brings us together to network, make connections, explore the richness of our unique Russian-Jewish-American identity, showcase and celebrate RJeneration's rising stars, and engage in Russian and Jewish life all around us.
