Dear beautiful, precious child of God,
We all have "baggage" or dirty laundry in our lives. There are things that hinder our walk with Christ - whether it be the negative influences of music, tv shows, movies, friends, celebrities, and so forth. It's important that we, as Christians, take time to pray and evaluate things in our lives that may hinder that walk with Him. We want to live different lives and not a life mirroring the world. We, as Christians, should strive to mirror the life of our Savior. Romans 12:2 says, "Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." My husband and I have recently challenged each other to evaluate things in our life - like simple things, such as music, and make sure the music we listen to glorifies God and encourages positive thinking. There are so many bands in our culture that aren't "bad," but the lyrics can be so negative. Often times, we don't even realize how it affects our thinking process - that's why it is so important to take time to pray and spend time in Scripture, asking the Lord to reveal what things in your life are dirty laundry. This dirty laundry in our life is overflowing in our laundry basket - it seeps out and consumes us. We need to ask the Lord to remove that filth, cleanse it and make it new and let His love and grace consume us like a fire.
Here are some scriptures to hold on to and pray about when trying to figure out what the dirty laundry in your life is ...
"And be ye kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." Eph.4:32
"Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." Col.3:2
"Pray without ceasing." 1:Thess.5:17
"Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving." Col.4:2
"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." Eph.6:18
"Cleave to that which is good." Rom.12:9
One of my favorite passages listed above is Romans 12:9, "Cleave to that which is good." It's important that we not cleave to the negative influences in the world - but cleave to the influences and things of Jesus Christ. It's important that we pray for each other and hold each other accountable.
Today is a day to REFLECT, RENEW and be REVIVED by our Savior. Let Him consume you.
