MIKE AGUIAR
Chief Estimator
How long have you been in the millwork industry?
I have nearly 40 years of experience in the millwork industry.
After graduating from Diman Vocational School for woodworking, I began my career on the shop floor as an apprentice at Walter A. Furman Co. From there, I spent the next 25 years of my career as journeyman & lead carpenter, learning and teaching the craft of custom cabinet making and casework installation
.
After which, I took these skills to
T&C Woodworking
as an estimator for 10 years. Later I joined Woodcraft as a project manager /engineer and most recently was the estimator for Frank Shatz & Company.
What do you like most about your millwork career as a project manager?
The short answer – project analysis and estimating. The reasons I returned to Woodcraft Designers & Builders is to become the company’s Chief Estimator and to help them grow their business. I enjoy all aspects of the millwork industry from design to fabrication, but what I enjoy most is attention to detail, looking at new projects, analyzing plans, and figuring out how a project is all put together and what these projects cost to build and estimating the time it takes to build and install them. I like meeting new people, working on new projects, and developing and growing relationships.
What are some of the biggest projects you've worked on in your career?
