Dear Parents & Guardians,
Woodbury's Opening Day/Flag Raising Ceremony was a huge success. We held one for Woodbury students and staff, then we held a second one to welcome Fernway students and staff. We called ourselves Fernbury Elementary School! Our students are off to an amazing start to the school year! This week, I visited many classrooms. The students were filled with joy and excitement. The teachers prepared activities to help students feel at ease with this new transition. Classroom activities supported students in getting to know each other, which will build that sense of community in each classroom.
During the first few weeks of school, in conjunction with the Woodbury Positive Behavior Support Program (WPBS), all 5th and 6th grade students were involved with the IB Attitudes and our Essential Agreements for the Common Areas of the building. The students were able to create posters focused on which IB Attributes they identified with the most. The students work will be displayed in the hallway for all of Woodbury to see! I heard excellent discussions around how students can show Cooperation, Commitment, Confidence, Integrity, Respect, Tolerance, Empathy, and Independence. Please ask your son or daughter about these activities which support us in building a sense of community.
I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday, September 5th at Parent Open House/Curriculum Night. The teachers will be sharing all the wonderful learning experiences for your son or daughter this school year!
Thank you for another great week at Woodbury Elementary School!
Always believe!!
