Dear Parents and Guardians,
Where did the time go? It is hard to believe we only have 2 more days of school left by the time you receive this communication.
This week, the 5th grade teachers took all of our 5th graders to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. I even joined in on the fun and went out to the Zoo this week as well. I had a great time with our students and staff.
I want to once again thank all of our 6th grade staff, A Team Members and the Camp Leaders for the outstanding job they did the past two weeks giving our 6th graders an unforgettable experience during 6th Grade Camp! What an excellent opportunity for the students to see the total Shaker Experience!
Next Tuesday, June 5th, at 10:00 a.m., we will hold our 6th Grade Clap Out Ceremony on the front lawn. Fifth grade students will celebrate with the sixth graders, unless it is raining. More detailed information is posted on the Woodbury homepage at
shaker.org
. Please plan on arriving early because parking is definitely at a premium. Let's celebrate and clap our sixth grade students on to their next grade level!
Thank you for another great week at Woodbury Elementary School!
Always believe!
D. Young, Principal

Summer Construction Projects at the District
There are several construction projects at our schools from June 7-August 3. Please be aware that there will be limited parking at the schools while the construction workers are on site.
For safety reasons, there will be no access to the playground at Onaway during the replacement of the asphalt play area and a retaining wall. As an alternative, we suggest families use the play areas at Boulevard or Woodbury.
Please note that the projected time frame for all projects is subject to change due to weather and other variables. The typical work day for operation of heavy equipment will be approximately 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work on asphalt replacement could extend to 6-7 p.m.
We expect congestion in and around the High School Oval as the following parking lots will be closed for the summer construction period:
• High School south parking lot
• High School north parking lot
• Onaway Elementary School parking lot
Please plan accordingly if you’ll be visiting or picking up/dropping off students at the High School or Onaway. We suggest budgeting an extra 10 minutes for walking from your car to a building. The Administration Building lot will be restricted to building users only.
During the construction period, the SELF and Shaker Heights City Summer Recreation Programs will run according to schedule in the respective buildings. Walk-in routes to the buildings will be identified. Participants and employees should plan accordingly to gain access to the buildings.
Contact the Shaker Heights Schools Business Office with any questions,
216-295-1400. Review this full list of construction projects.

Rainbow Run
For those parents with rising 7th grade students, we are in need of volunteers for the 2018 Rainbow Run. This is a fabulous fundraiser for the middle school (last year we raised almost $45,000). It is an amazing experience for the middle school students and the entire district. As a parent volunteer, you'll have a terrific chance to get to know the staff and the building as we prepare for the run. The Rainbow Run will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018. We have many opportunities to get involved. We need your help!!!
