MLK Day of Service
Save the date and donate!
On January 15, 2018, MLK Day, Shaker students, staff and their families will gather at SHHS to do service projects to support neighbors experiencing homelessness, build community and celebrate Dr. King's
legacy
of service. Please plan to attend with your family!
Woodbury and SMS families will make personal care kits for teens in transition and foster care served by YWCA and Metro Health. Each kit costs about $10 and will include hygiene items, art supplies, and snacks suggested by our partner agencies. We'll package the kits in cloth bags created from t-shirts.
Boulevard, Fernway, Lomond, Mercer and Onaway families will make fleece blankets, and assemble water bottles with flavor tabs for children served by Bellefaire JCB. Each blanket costs about $10.
In advance of the event, we need your help!
* Drop-off clean plastic bags at several sites across the city - they will be used to make durable sleeping mats for the homeless.
for more information.
*
Contribute clean, gently used T-shirts that will be up cycled into cloth bags for care kits. Email
Stacey
to donate.
*
Make a donation
here
to allow us to buy materials to make warm fleece blankets and scarves, and create "care kits" that provide clean socks, personal products, and a snack. It's easy to give at whatever amount is comfortable for you.
Thank you for helping us build "beloved community" in Shaker!

College Credit Plus
College Credit Plus (CCP) offers students the opportunity to earn college credit while still in High School. This is called "dual credit", since a student earns both high school and college credit for the same course.
Did you know...
Students must complete a Letter of Intent to Participate in College Credit Plus by April 1, 2018 to participate in the 2018/19 school year. The Letter of Intent must be submitted to the College Credit Plus Coordinator at Shaker Heights High School. Students must complete a new Letter of Intent each year they participate. The Letter of Intent indicates interest, but does not lock a student into participating in CCP. The 18/19 letter will be available at the January 10th meeting (see below).
Students and parents/guardians interested in 2018/19 or future years are encouraged to come to our
College Credit Plus Information Meeting on Wednesday, January 10th at 7pm in the Large Auditorium at SHHS.
College representatives and school counseling staff will provide an overview about the benefits and challenges of the program.

Help Needed
Please send any

cardboard tubes you are ready to recycle to the Product Design Lab ℅ Ms. Scanlon. The inner roll of cardboard from aluminum foil or gift-wrap paper and old poster tubes would be helpful to the sixth graders as they use the Design Cycle to make adaptive equipment in Priduct Design. Thank you!
