Dear Parents and Guardians,
Several 6th grade teams have participated in Camp. I have already received wonderful feedback from some parents regarding their child's experience out at Camp. Here's a comment from a parent who emailed me:
Camp was just as amazing as you said it would be! Thank you for giving so many kids such a joy-filled experience.
On a personal note, you provided me a very special afternoon with Sam. I picked up a beaming, exhausted kid off the bus, and we spent much of the afternoon in conversation - Sam eagerly sharing about the great food (learning about Kosher and a cereal bar!), playing Clue, the ropes course, climbing wall, cheering together, and the wonderful adults who supported the kids. Then Sam moved inside to play video games, and after about 30 minutes, asked to hang out with me and walk to Onaway to get his younger siblings from school. He shared the best endorsement of camp I can imagine, "I'm not really into video games now. I'd rather be outside. Camp can really change your perspective."
Wow - we spend a lot of time outside as a family, which includes camping, but this nugget of wisdom is all thanks to the dedication, good-humor, time and care you give to this experience and all our kids. We can't thank you enough!
Wishing you a couple more weeks of sunny days, dry socks and special memories!
This is why our entire staff agrees that all 6th grade students should attend Camp, this is part of the Shaker Experience! Sixth Grade Camp is so rewarding and enriching for our students. These are memories that will last a lifetime. I know the rising 5th graders can't wait until next school year when they get a chance to experience Woodbury 6th Grade Camp!

Thank you for another great week at Woodbury Elemementary School!
Always believe!

Summer Construction Projects at the District
There are several construction projects at our schools from June 7-August 3. Please be aware that there will be limited parking at the schools while the construction workers are on site.
For safety reasons, there will be no access to the playground at Onaway during the replacement of the asphalt play area and a retaining wall. As an alternative, we suggest families use the play areas at Boulevard or Woodbury.
Please note that the projected time frame for all projects is subject to change due to weather and other variables. The typical work day for operation of heavy equipment will be approximately 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work on asphalt replacement could extend to 6-7 p.m.
We expect congestion in and around the High School Oval as the following parking lots will be closed for the summer construction period:
• High School south parking lot
• High School north parking lot
• Onaway Elementary School parking lot
Please plan accordingly if you’ll be visiting or picking up/dropping off students at the High School or Onaway. We suggest budgeting an extra 10 minutes for walking from your car to a building. The Administration Building lot will be restricted to building users only.
During the construction period, the SELF and Shaker Heights City Summer Recreation Programs will run according to schedule in the respective buildings. Walk-in routes to the buildings will be identified. Participants and employees should plan accordingly to gain access to the buildings.
Contact the Shaker Heights Schools Business Office with any questions,
216-295-1400. Review this full list of construction projects.
