Dear Parents and Guardians,
I would like to thank all the Enriched Language and Literature teachers (Lewis, Pincoe, Libman, Hayward, Brindza) for the excellent job they have done with our students and their I Search Projects. The topics the students researched and developed into a presentation were simply remarkable. Job well done students and staff!
I enjoyed my time this week with the parents who attended Tour Your Schools. I shared highlights of all the wonderful things happening at Woodbury. These will be opportunities for the students who are transitioning into Woodbury. We will have an orientation for in-coming 5th grade students and parents shortly after Spring Break. A big thank you to all the PTO parents who helped out during the day. Another special thank you to all of our Student Ambassadors who gave the visiting parents a tour of our wonderful school. Great team effort!
Thank you for another great week at Woodbury Elementary School!
Always believe!

Parents –
Please plan to attend this informational meeting for 6
th
grade camp. It will be held on April 16, 2018 at 7:00pm in the Woodbury Auditorium.
Prize Donations & Camperships Needed for Camp
Prizes can be small, inexpensive items children would find fun. Some popular items last year were posters, t-shirts, card games, balls, hats, books, jump ropes, water bottles, and stuffed animals. We are also looking for monetary donations for "camperships" to help support all students' ability to participate in 6th grade camp. We welcome donations to the Campership fund! Do you have something to donate? Please contact Ms. Rashid at Woodbury at 295-4154. Thank you for your help making this a great camp experience for all of our 6th graders!

Drama Club News
We are working hard on painting the sets, acting and creating costumes and props. Our students' attendance at rehearsals, meetings and paint days are very crucial. We can't complete scenes, songs, props or sets if everyone involved isn't there. Please check the calendar or our website to be sure you know when you are needed. The February calendar was passed out at rehearsal this week. It is also hanging in a folder outside of the auditorium.

Rainbow Run
For those parents with rising 7th grade students, we are in need of volunteers for the 2018 Rainbow Run. This is a fabulous fundraiser for the middle school (last year we raised almost $45,000). It is an amazing experience for the middle school students and the entire district. As a parent volunteer, you'll have a terrific chance to get to know the staff and the building as we prepare for the run. The Rainbow Run will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018. We have many opportunities to get involved. We need your help!!!

Help Needed
Please send any
sturdy
cardboard tubes you are ready to recycle to the Product Design Lab ℅ Ms. Scanlon. The inner roll of cardboard from aluminum foil or gift-wrap paper and old poster tubes would be helpful to the sixth graders as they use the Design Cycle to make adaptive equipment in Product Design. Thank you!

PARENT PRACTICE TIPS
DID YOU KNOW?
Regular practice develops self-discipline that goes way beyond music. You can help you child by creating an environment for practice that is positive and engaging. Consistency is the key!
HELP YOUR CHILD BE SUCCESSFUL BY…
Set up a routine
. If a child knows that they are to practice every day at a specific time, it becomes part of their daily routine and increases focused practice.
Make a permanent practice place.
Set up a spot where your child can practice without distraction. This will not only help them focus it will also provide a safe place to store their instrument.
Provide encouragement.
Show that you are interested. Have your child play a mini concert of songs he/she is learning. Set up a reward system for consistent practice. Please do not make practice a punishment!
Communicate with the teacher.
Stay in touch with what is going on in the classroom and ask questions if you need clarification on assignments.
