Bonanza is Friday!
One of the most fun events of the year is this Friday! Remember that Friday is a half day with dismissal at 11:30 a.m. There will be no Bright Afternoons available.

Turn in Jazzy Jars today and tomorrow in morning and afternoon car lines.

Turn in cakes Wednesday and Thursday in the morning and afternoon car line.

If you have not yet turned in orders for food, tickets and wristbands, please do so by tomorrow, Tuesday, at noon. There are extra forms in the office, or you may download the forms here. If you want to pay by credit cards, use this authorization form. Food cannot be purchased at Bonanza.

Remember, there will be no parking at school for Bonanza. Please park at Stuart Heights Baptist Church and ride the shuttles. Do not park on Minnekadha Road; our neighbors there will call police and have cars towed!

Pablo Bear (pictured here) is one of the items in this year's raffle. He's a curious bear and likes to hide around the school.

Visit the Bonanza webpage for all the details. And don't forget to use #brightbonanza for social media!
Celebrate Dot Day
In celebration of International Dot Day, students will be learning about author Peter Reynolds' vision to be brave and creative in art class and library this week.

Families may take part in the celebration by decorating their own dot to win an autographed copy of the The Dot book. Use this form to design, cut out and turn in your dot by Friday at 11:30 a.m.

French Toast Uniform Sale Extended
The French Toast brand uniform sale has been continued through today and during tomorrow morning's Bright Family Breakfast. Visit the Treehouse (upstairs at the columns entrance) and purchase all items half off. You may have polo shirts sent to Threads for embroidery when you purchase them at the sale.
More About Uniforms
There are several uniform items that have been discontinued from Land's End or other stores that are not authorized Bright uniforms. These include plaid dresses, dresses that are not polo dresses, jumpers with logos and any item that has a full-color logo (not navy or white). Other uniform no-no's include red and pink bows or headbands and belts that are not brown, black, navy or the Bright logo belts sold in the Bright 1913 Bookstore. Thank you for your cooperation in making sure your child's outfit for the day is uniform. If you have any questions about uniforms, please contact Renee' Kropff or Elizabeth Davis.
Vision, Speech and Hearing Screenings This Week
Students in grades JPK-2 and any new student will have vision screenings tomorrow. On
Wednesday and Thursday, there will be speech and hearing screenings for kindergarten and new students. For questions, contact school nurse Mary Catherine Robbins at [email protected].
Parent Reading Workshop
Parents of students in grades 3-5 are invited to Reading Night on Thursday, September 20, from 6-7 p.m. in the library.

The third-grade team will present information about the reading workshop model, which is now used in all three grades. For more details, read this letter.

Child care will be available that evening. If you plan to attend, please RSVP by signing up for one of the breakout sessions at the button below.
We Love Math!
Morning Math (Grades 1-5)
Please turn in the sign-up form to the office by Friday, September 14. Your child must sign up in advance to participate. This allows better coordination of students and volunteers. For more information, visit the Morning Math webpage or contact Susan Howell at [email protected].

Sunshine Math (Grades K-5)
Sunshine Math worksheets are now posted on the Sunshine Math webpage. Turn in the worksheets in the main office before the end of each month. For more information, visit the webpage or contact Noelle Coleman at [email protected].
Time to Schedule Parent Conferences
The Parent Portal is now open to schedule parent-teacher conferences on September 27 and 28. September 27 is a half day with dismissal at 11:30 a.m. for students. There is no school on September 28.

Click this  link  to access the Parent Portal. To schedule a conference, select "Student Profile" along the top menu. This will take you to a new page. Along the left side menu you will see Teacher Conferences. Once you select this, you will see the options for conference times.

For multiple children, toggle between your children's names in the top right corner to schedule a time for each of their teachers. Students in grades 4-5 will have additional days and times available due to teachers meeting with the entire grade level.
Fifth Grade Admissions Event Tomorrow
Fifth grade parents are invited to an informational session to review and learn more about the middle school admissions process. Parents may choose to attend at 8:15 a.m. or 4:30 p.m. in the library tomorrow. In the meeting, we will answer questions and review the steps Bright will complete for your family and upcoming dates and deadlines. You also will receive important forms you need to return. We are here to help you have a successful journey through the admissions process. Please email Renee' Kropff at  [email protected]  if you are not able to attend either time.

Bright Scene
The Class of 2018 returned to Bright last night for the annual Sixth Grade Yearbook Party. Last year's fifth graders signed each other's yearbooks and wrote special notes to their buddies, who are now in first grade.
