Due to snow, ice, cold, trail conditions and safety  . . . the Elkin Valley Trails Association workday on the E & A Rail-Trail in the Elkin Municipal Park has been rescheduled to take place on 14 March 2015 . . . a week before Spring arrives!   Details of the workday will remain essentially the same . . . 

Starting at 9 AM at the Train Sculpture in the Elkin Municipal Park and lasting until ~ noon. Stay for little while or for the whole time.

Bring gloves, mattock, rake, shovel or pruners if you have them. We will have a number of rakes and shovels available. Please favorably consider marking your calendar and joining others to improve the trail for the rest of 2015. We plan to smooth out the trail for better wheelchair and stroller access, repair washed areas, add a new train sculpture, add historical signage and the E & A Rail-Trail entry sign, divert water where it washes the trail, and prepare for extending trails, planting a native species garden, installing a 200-foot bridge and building a mountain bike course.
