Working for your Business      Supporting businesses across the Harrogate district
                                                                                                                                                    February 2 018
Welcome to the February edition of Working for your Business with the usual round-up of local information, opportunities and events to help support your business.
In this issue:
In need of business advice?
We're very proud of the support that the council has been able to give to local businesses and entrepreneurs via the Enterprise Gateway over the last six years.

During that time we've held over 600 individual appointments, run dozens of workshops and networking events and helped many people to start their business.

There are new start-up support schemes becoming available in the Harrogate district which the council has supported, such as the Ad:Venture programme, a support package for new and young businesses. As a result of this, together with the adoption of the Economic Growth Strategy (2017-35) in July 2017, the Enterprise Gateway will close on 31 March 2018.

Details of where to find business support advice after this date will be available on the newly updated business and investment pages on our website. Take a look at www.harrogate.gov.uk/business

Show your support for the Local Plan
There's still time to have your say on the publication version of the Harrogate District Local Plan.

Feedback from local businesses highlighted two key themes that the Local Plan could be used to address:
  • housing is expensive locally and this is a barrier to recruiting staff and,
  • the availability of land for business expansion has been low, meaning that local businesses have to look outside the district if they want to grow.
The Local Plan addresses these issues so please show your support for the plan by responding to the consultation at GS1 - providing new homes and jobs.

All representations must be received by 4.30pm on Friday 9 March 2018.
