Working with Students & Counselors Affected by Natural Disasters
As you know, students and counselors continue to be impacted by the hurricanes, tropical storms, earthquakes, floods, and fires in California, Texas, Florida, Mexico, the Eastern seaboard, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. We cancelled our October 2-6 Puerto Rico Recruitment Program due to Hurricane Maria and its effects.

As students and counselors may not have the resources typically available to submit letters of recommendations, transcripts, and/or applications, we urge you, our CCAA member institutions, to be patient and flexible. We encourage you to extend deadlines, to reach out to these students and counselors to notify them of extensions, and to be of service to those who have many questions and concerns about the application process.

Please read NACAC’s official statement about working with those affected by these natural disasters, and let us know if you have any questions. In addition, one of our partner organizations, the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities ( ACCU ) has posted information about donating to various Catholic charities and how some Catholic colleges and universities affected by these natural disasters are doing.

Thank you for your consideration, prayers, and patience as we work with students, families and colleagues affected by these recent and ongoing disasters.

Sincerely,

Bob Mundy
