So, how are those resolutions going?
Wait! Don't click on to the next email. If you're like most people, the resolutions you made a short while ago are only fleeting memories as you got caught up in the demands and distractions of a new year. It happens to me, too.
Allow me to share three insights that just may salvage your intentions and turn those resolutions into reality for good.
1) Get Back to Basics. Use proven strategies to strengthen your resolve, like limiting your goals to no more than three at a time; breaking each down to smaller, quantifiable steps with reasonable deadlines; and rewarding yourself along the way. Enlist the support of a friend who shares your goal or a coach or mentor for guidance and accountability.
2) Focus on Feelings. When you incorporate positive emotions in goal achievement and decide how you want to feel--like peaceful, energetic, confident or proud--you'll become clearer about what you want and will be much more likely to follow through. When it comes to motivation, feelings trump logic every time.
3) Turn Losses into Gains. Most goals require you to give up something--like junk food, cigarettes or mindless spending. Instead of grieving about what you're losing, celebrate your eventual gains--from a new wardrobe in a smaller size (which is probably already waiting in your closet) to financial security and the ability to finally afford that dream vacation. When you write it down as if it was already so and display those images on a vision board, your subconscious mind will seek out opportunities and resources to prove that it's true.
Could these strategies make a difference for you? How are you sticking to your resolutions? Please take a moment to share your wisdom or questions on my Facebook Page or reply back to me. I love hearing from you!
