Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program: Russia, Moldova and Ukraine
Description: The Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program has been a program of the U.S. Department of State for nearly 20 years. The program seeks to promote mutual understanding between the United States and the countries of Eurasia by providing secondary school students (ages 15-17) the opportunity to live in the U.S. for an academic year.
WorldChicago needs your help! We are seeking temporary host family placements for three female students from Russia, Moldova and Ukraine. They will arrive this month to begin school at South Shore International College Preparatory High School or Lincoln Park High School.
WorldChicago seeks homestay families for 2 weeks to 2 months in Hyde Park and Lincoln Park and their neighboring areas for-
- Olga, from Russia, attends an art school, where she plays the accordion and electronic piano.
- Polina, from Ukraine, loves English, German, and chemistry, and she aspires to be a doctor.
- Inga, from Moldova, enjoys participating in drama and debate club, and she just completed piano and vocal training.

South & Central Asian Legislative Fellows Program
Chicago Dates: October 21 - November 7, 2012
Description: 4 Emerging Public Policy Professionals from 4 South & Central Asian Countries will be completing fellowships at State and Local Government Offices and NGO's in Chicago. All participants are fluent in English.
Home stays are needed for all of these delegates. A small stipend is available for homestay hosts.
What do we need? Each guest with his or her own bed and access to a private or shared bathroom;
Quality time spent with guests to share experiences and insights about daily life and culture in Chicago

Description: This U.S. Department of State program identifies foreign leaders in a variety of fields to visit the U.S. for 3 weeks (visiting 3-5 cities) to meet their professional counterparts, explore their thematic interest area(s), and experience America firsthand. These visitors stay in hotels.
If you are interested in meeting with these visitors professionally and/or socially for meals in your home, please contact John Baum at (312) 254-1800 x100 or jbaum@worldchicago.org to request these opportunities (please note that not all requests may be met due to scheduling conflicts and programming goals). Meal hospitality has specifically been requested for the visitor programs highlighted below in red. Priority for meal hosting is given to current WorldChicago members.

Bridging the Gap: An Interfaith Concert of Muslim and Jewish Music

Included on the program will be the US premiere of Josip Slavenski's "Muslimani," Ilya Levinson's "Shtetl Scenes," works by John Williams, Shehidi and traditional Bosnian sevdah music adapted for orchestra by conductor Philip Simmons. Imam Senad Agic will be vocal soloist, joined by guest speaker Rabbi Neil Brief and the Chicago Syntagma Musicum Chorus. The event includes a photo exhibit, "20 Years Later, Remembering the Genocide in Bosnia," by Samir Hadzalic. Presented by the American Islamic Center of Bosniaks in Chicago, the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs, and American Music Festivals.
