On November 9, 2017 in front of over 200 attendees, the majority of which were veterans themselves, our 2nd Annual Worth Honoring Luncheon took place. This spectacular event helped us honor and celebrate those that have courageously served in our country's armed forces. Visit our  Facebook

to see more photos and videos of the event! Thank you to all of our sponsors, attendees and veterans that made this event so successful.

New to this year's luncheon,  H.  Ross Perot was presented with the first Worth Honoring Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor that is awarded in recognition of one's outstanding dedication, commitment, and many contributions to country and community. The distinction of the Lifetime Achievement Award is to be bestowed upon an individual that has dedicated their life to the service of others as a military veteran and has made substantial contributions to the progression and growth of the veteran community.

"Being able to honor Ross Perot's amazing life is a huge honor for our organization," said Matt Mildren, Chairman of the Presbyterian Night Shelter Board of Directors. "Mr. Perot exemplifies what it means to be a great community leader and the importance of honoring all veterans that have sacrificed so much for our freedom."

Retired Major Jason Strickler was honored with the 2017 Community Champion Award at Presbyterian Night Shelter's Worth Honoring Luncheon, featuring U.S. Congresswoman Kay Granger  and Vince Tobin, Executive Vice President of Military Business for Bell Helicopter, presenting title sponsor of the luncheon. The Community Champion Award recognizes and honors a military veteran who deserves special recognition for substantial contributions made to the City of Fort Worth during or after military service.

"Jason was selected because the overall contribution of his efforts stood out in ways like length of community service and number of people benefitted by his service," said Thomas Ames, U.S. Navy Reserves and member of the award selection committee. "I am truly moved by Jason's civic action and those of the other nominees. I am inspired to step up my service to our community because of their examples."

Congratulations to Major Jason Strickler and the other finalists for their amazing contributions to the City of Fort Worth.

The Presbyterian Night Shelter is proud to be celebrating over 30 years of service to our community and we are the only free area emergency shelter without length-of-stay restrictions.  More than just a provider of emergency shelter and meals, Presbyterian Night Shelter's main purpose is to provide resources that enable the homeless to re-enter mainstream society.   Started in 1984 by a group of Presbyterian ministers, the Shelter has served over 13 million meals and provided over 6 million nights stay.  We provide safe shelter, hot meals and services to  650 homeless men, women and children each night within four facilities: Main Shelter for single men and women, women and children's facility, behavioral care facility (for the severely mentally ill), and Patriot House and Veterans Services program for homeless veterans.  Our mission is to guide the journey home, providing the services and resources to end homelessness for each man, woman and child who walk through our doors.
