Wound Care Seminars to be Offered by WHCA/WiCAL in July
WHCA/WiCAL will be offering a series of workshops on wound care on July 23, 24, and 25 in Eau Claire, Appleton, and Brookfield.

Wound infection continues to be a challenging problem and often results in wounds failing to heal or patient mortality. This control of microbial proliferation depends on the clinician's ability to recognize both local and systemic signs of infection as well as the patient ability to reduce the bio burden level at the wound site to a manageable level.

All of these issues will be addressed at the workshops being held this summer, which will be presented by
Charles Gokoo, MD, American Medical Technologies, Irvine, CA.

OBJECTIVES:

1. Discuss the differences between wound healing models.
2. Explain interventions and the plan of care including monitoring
and documentation when a complication or change has been identified.
3. Discuss wound bed preparation.

WiCAL advocates for assisted living facilities by helping members provide the highest quality services to the elderly and disabled citizens of Wisconsin. WHCA/WiCAL represents about 300 facilities, their 28,000 employees and the 27,000 residents they serve.
