It was an exciting week for YGS. On Monday night, four YGS students presented to the Board of Education about the amazing things happening at YGS. Students highlighted our upcoming literacy night, CHAMP of the Day and how students embrace differences and help others throughout the school day. On Thursday evening, it was amazing to see so many students and families at the homecoming parade! It was even more exciting when YGS learned they won the "Name the Fox" contest! The Yorkville mascot's name is now, "Super Fox!" Click HERE to view the video of YGS students presenting Super Fox with a Superman t-shirt. I'd like to extend a BIG thank you to all the YGS families who supported these two events this past week.

There is no school this Friday, October 6th due to Fall break. Students will enjoy a five day weekend as break extends through Tuesday, October 10th. School will resume on Wednesday, October 11th.

Please mark your calendar for Thursday, October 12th as we'd love for all YGS families to attend this year's Literacy Night! The PTO is providing FREE pizza for all families and the YGS staff has various interactive family literacy activities for the family to participate in. We hope to see everyone between 5:30-7:00pm.

  • The Taffy Apple fundraiser is back! Watch for an advertisement flyer and order form in your child's backpack this week! Taffy Apple pickup night will be during conferences at the end of this month!

  • The PTO is hosting a "Giving Back" project where we are asking YGS families to donate gently used coats. Donated coats will go to YGS families in need FIRST, then any additional coats will go to the Kendall County Food Pantry. We hope you will consider donating a gently used coat to help our community.

  • We hope to see you at Literacy Night on Thursday, October 12th! PTO is sponsoring FREE pizza for EVERYONE!!! Please join us between 5:30-7:00pm in the YGS cafeteria for FREE pizza!

  • The PTO has been busy planning the Halloween parties for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades. Early Childhood does not have a Halloween party as they go on a field trip instead. A sign up will be sent out to all K-3 parents. The grade level sign ups will also be posted to the PTO Facebook page

  • We hope to see many YGS families at the Harlem Wizards game on Saturday, October 21st! See the informational flyer below for more details about this event which raises money for ALL PTOs in District 115.
