I hope you are staying warm and enjoying the long weekend! As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. School will resume on Tuesday. As a reminder, students will go outside to recess when the wind chill is 15 degrees or above. Please help your child remember to bring their hat, gloves, and scarf for chilly days. In addition to these warm clothes, snow pants and boots are a requirement for students to play in the snow.

Report cards went live on Home Access on Friday. Should you need assistance accessing your child's report card on Home Access, please contact the main office at 630.553.4390. If you do not have access to the internet and require a paper copy of your child's report card, please email me at [email protected].

Last Friday, we recognized students for demonstrating trustworthiness during the month of December. During the month of January, we will review CHAMP behavior and what it means to demonstrate positive character, just as superheros do! If you could, please take a minute to ask your child what the CHAMP acronym stands for and why it is important to demonstrate CHAMP behavior all of the time, and not just at school.

During January and February, we have two compliments to our monthly reading log. Ozzie Reading Club forms went home earlier this month and we will also begin the Six Flags reading form. Please know these two additional forms are simply compliments to our monthly reading program. The reading your child completes each evening for the YGS calendar can count towards both the Ozzie and Six Flags forms. The Ozzie and Six Flags programs are provided to families who would like free tickets to the Kane County Cougars game or Six Flags amusement park. The Ozzie and Six Flags forms are completely optional, but we surely hope you will participate!

Have a wonderful week!

Guest Speakers Wanted
In order to provide a tangible connection for students to the topics be have been covering in our Second Step lessons, speakers within the community are needed. District 115 is seeking speakers who deal effectively with social and emotional topics through their professional and personal work. All speakers should be deemed appropriate to speak in a public school. Parents and other community members are encouraged to nominate possible speakers who have meaningful connections with children in the community through activities, sports, and other youth and volunteer activities. Community partners and other youth activity sponsors may be considered appropriate nominees. However, each nominee will go through a selection process by the district and each individual school. Please thoughtfully consider nominating a respected community member who connects with students as a positive role model and mentor. Please click on the link to complete the form to nominate a speaker.  Link
