From the CEO
Greetings, and thanks for reading our new newsletter about one of the oldest charities in Newfoundland and Labrador.
We want to communicate all about the YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador and our activities on the Avalon Peninsula, the Burin Peninsula, the Bonavista Peninsula, in Labrador, and all across our province.
We also want to do more to help our communities understand the work the YMCA does in health, child care, and employment and how - perhaps even more than ever in challenging economic times - the YMCA brings value to individuals and families.
Part of expressing this is our new mission, vision, and values:
Mission - The YMCA is a charity, open to everyone at all stages of life, that provides opportunities to grow in spirit, mind, and body.
Vision - A province of vibrant and healthy communities where everyone can belong, grow, and thrive.
Values - Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, Diversity
In a province with population health concerns, families that need support, people that need jobs or want to start businesses, the YMCA is here for everyone as we have been since 1854.
Thanks again for reading.
Regards,
Jason Brown, CEO

Canadian Tire Jumpstart Supports Physical Activity for Children and Youth
The YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador is a proud recipient of Canadian Tire Jumpstart Funding. The funds received through Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities help provide access to all inclusive YMCA Memberships at the Ches Penney Family YMCA in St. John's for children ages 5 - 18. Because of this support children in financially disadvantaged families are given the opportunity to participate in fun, physical activities and sports at the YMCA.
For many years Canadian Tire Owners/Operators and Jumpstart have been helping the YMCA Financial Assistance Program extend its reach so that more children and youth can be physically active and lead healthier lives as a result. In 2016 more than 500 children at the Ches Penney Family YMCA in St. John's will be helped with this funding. The YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador is thankful for this important support!

Fort MacMurray Families at the Marystown YMCA
We were happy to help families in need from Fort MacMurray who were displaced from their homes. They thoroughly enjoyed their time here and used our facility on a daily basis.
Fort MacMurray is often called Newfoundland's second largest city, and we are also happy to be a part of a national YMCA effort to raise more than $150,000 to help the YMCA operations in Fort MacMurray with the challenges presented by the fires.

Donate Now!
The YMCA is a charity committed to being financially accessible to all members of the community. Donors to the YMCA make this possible. Our Financial Assistance Program assists those who are unable to afford the full membership, child care, or day camp cost. Your donation can help change the life of a child, adult or family in your local community. Your help gives them the opportunity to access YMCA programs that will improve their physical, social, and emotional well-being.
