January Member Meeting - Town of Gilbert CIP Overview - 1/23/2018
January's monthly meeting will be held on the Tuesday, January 23rd, at 5:30pm 
at Half Moon Sports Grill at 2121 E. Highland Avenue (near SR 51 at the Highland Ave/Camelback Rd exit). 

The YMF board would like to invite all members to this meeting where Courtney Ambrose, Sr. Project Manger will present on the Town of Gilbert's Capital Improvement Program. 
 
The presentation will cover:
  • Current 2018 - 2027 CIP (Town of Gilbert), types of projects, highlight major projects
  • Discuss how a city decided which projects go into the program
  • Discuss qualifications for firms to be awarded CIP (General)
Be sure to come out bring your business cards and enjoy a drink on us. It is a great way to get to know your fellow local engineers and make life long connections that will help immensely during your career.
 
 January Phoenix Branch Luncheon - 1/10/2018
Come enjoy lunch with colleagues and friends while learning about the Central Arizona Project.

Keith Wood/CAP & Jess Chism/Hartman Walsh Painting will present information
about the recently completed project to reline the water supply pipes from the Lake Havasu / Mark Wilmer Pumping Plant on January 10, 2018 at the Because-Space for Life.  

YMF has one complimentary ticket

Future Cites Volunteers 
This is one of our favorite events. We're looking for volunteers to judge the 2017-2018 Future Cities  Competition.  Please contact  Cynthia Alvarez ASAP at cynthia.alvarez@burgessniple.com if you would like to join the YMF team.

Future City starts with a question - how can we make the world a better place? To answer it, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future that showcase their solution to a citywide sustainability issue. The 2017-2018 theme is The Age-Friendly City. 

YMF January Bowling Social! - 1/18/2018
Come enjoy a night of bowling with fellow YMF members on Thursday, January 18th at the AMF Tempe Village Lanes (map)!
 
Time: 6pm - 8pm
Location: YMF Tempe Village Lanes
4407 S. Rural Rd, Tempe AZ 85282
Cost: Shoe Rental - $5
* YMF will cover the cost of playtime for 2 hours as well as a few pitchers of beer!

Please RSVP to Courtney Anderson ( canderson@terrascape.us ) so we can have a rough headcount to reserve enough lanes!

Register for Spring YMF PE Review Courses
For members (and non members) who plan on registering for the Spring 2018 PE Exam, Phoenix YMF offers PE review courses to help engineers prepare to take the exam. 

The course includes 10 classes instructed by practicing engineers, with each class providing studying and test taking materials.  Additionally, a full length practice exam and solutions are provided at the end of the course. Classes are held Monday and Wednesdays from 5:30PM-8:30PM at AZTEC Engineering (4561 E. McDowell Road).

MATH COUNTS Competition Volunteers Needed - 2/17/2018

The regional Papago Chapter MATHCOUNTS competition is coming up again soon. This year's Papago Chapter competition will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Bioscience High School. 

We are in need of volunteers to help with scoring that day. The time commitment is only approximately 8AM to 2PM. You'll be able to interact with incredibly smart 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Please contact Cynthia Alvarez at  Cynthia.alvarez@burgessniple.com  if you are interested in volunteering.
