Happy New Year! - What is YOUR resolution?

Every year we all make New Year's resolutions. We have great hopes of improving ourselves or stopping things we don't like about ourselves, yet within a couple of weeks we have given up on our resolutions. Why?

Most of the time our resolutions are too vague or unrealistic. Be more organized, loose 50 pounds, get in great shape, eat only healthy food, save more $$, etc. Most resolutions are around fitness. So how do we make a fitness resolution we can actually keep? I did a little due diligence and have discovered it is actually pretty simple. "Pick a realistic goal and take small steps towards that goal and don't worry to much if we slip up a little."

First, pick one thing that you want to change or set one goal that you want to accomplish.

Second, take small steps or make small changes every day to incorporate that change into your life. It takes 66 days to make an action a habit.

Third, be sure to CELEBRATE for making these small changes.

Lastly, learn to take small setbacks in stride and recommit to your goal.

So, lets go make 2017 the year of YOUR resolution. (The OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon would be a great one!)

And, we will even throw in a money saving incentive.  Register by December 31st and save $10.

Giddy up,

David

Better Training by Papa John's
"Better Training, Better Fuel"

The difference between a dream and a goal is a plan.   OhioHealth has created a training page with training plans and tips  I have developed for all 3 race distances and for every ability.    Once you've chosen your training plan, create your own path for success.   Think about when, where, and how you will train.   Write it down and tell the important people in your life.   The act of simply telling someone your goal makes it more real.
If you're local to Columbus, you are connected to the best running community in the best running city in the country.  We encourage you to join a local training group like Marathoner In Training (MIT).  MIT coaches have completed over 500 marathons combined and offer the support and motivation needed to reach your goals.  MIT offers a $15 discount for those of you registered for Cap City by using code MITCC17.

Happy Training! Coach Aimee
